Poker Run for Jerry Camp

 A Poker Run in memory of Locust Grove resident Jerry Camp will be held on September 29 with kickstands up at 1 p.m. and registration starting at noon. Proceeds to benefit his daughter Peyton. Run begins and ends at Southside Steve’s in McDonough and the cost is $15 per driver and $5 per passenger. Goody bags, payouts to high and low hands, specials, raffles and music. Race to Read

  The third annual Race to Read 5K benefitting Henry County Library projects will be Sunday, October 7, at 3 p.m. in the Westridge Industrial Park. Packet pickup and race day registration will begin at 2 p.m. The registration fee is $18 before September 16 and $20 afterward to race day. Hampton Events

  The volunteer meeting for the Haunted Depot will be September 20 at 7 p.m. in the Hampton Depot. The depot will be haunted October 26 - 27 from 7 - 10 p.m. The cost is $3 per ticket. The Scarecrow Contest in underway. Register your creation at main www.streethamptonga.com or at City Hall by October 8. The City Council of Hampton will sponsor the showing of "Night at the Museum" on September 22 at 8 p.m. in McBrayer Park. Bring your chairs and blankets for this free event. The 15th Annual Bear Creek Festival will be held September 29 and 30 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in McBrayer Park, 19 Central Avenue, Hampton. They expect nearly 100 vendors with arts, crafts, food, games and more. The Downtown Development Authority will have the Hampton Express for $1 rides around the park. The Car Show will be on Sunday. NAACP Annual Car Show

  The Henry County Branch of the NAACP will be hosting its Annual Car Show on Saturday, September 29 from 10 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. at Clark Park in Stockbridge. Cars and motor bikes will be judged at this festive event. There will be free food, games and music for the entire community. Awards will be announced at 1:30 p.m. Clark Park is located at 111 Davis Road in Stockbridge. All interested show participants are encouraged to register early by contacting President Edwards at 404-433-3290.

 

Henry County Tea Party

  Henry County Tea Party will meet on Thursday, September 20 at 6:30 p.m. in the Community Annex Room in the Public Safety Complex at 116 Zack Hinton Parkway, McDonough. For further info contact Joyce Hinton at hctpp1776@gmail.com.

 

Locust Grove Events

  Family Night in The Grove will be on October 6 from 6 until 9 p.m. There will be an art exhibit, family photos, music in the park, pumpkin painting for children, story telling, raffles for great prizes, shopping discounts throughout downtown, hot chocolate, cookies and sidewalk crafters. Volunteer Training Program

Fall Break Camp

  The Henry County Parks and Recreation Department is offering a Fall Break Camp from September 24 through 28 during the week of fall break for Henry County schools. The cost is $100 per child, with a $10 discount for each additional child from the same family. The camp hours are from 7:30 a.m. until 6 p.m. for ages 5 to 12. Registration runs until September 21 between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. at a Henry County recreation center. Register online at www.hcprd.org.
