So you think you can
sing? Do you have pipes like Mariah Carey, croon like Frank
Sinatra or produce soulful sounds like Marvin Gaye? Then the
city of Hampton is looking for you for the first ever Hampton
Idol contest to be held at the Hampton Depot on Thursday,
November 8 beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Contestants will audition
for a panel of three to five judges. Only solo acts will be
considered and singers will sing “a capella,” (with no music
accompaniment). Three semi-finalists will be chosen to sing at
the Hampton Christmas tree lighting at the Train Depot on
Thursday evening, November 22, and a winner will be chosen that
night. The winner will receive a cash prize and be the guest
singer at the Downtown Christmas Party following the annual
Christmas parade on December 6. Last year the parade attracted
over 5,000 people.
Auditions are open to all
ages for anyone who lives, works or attends school in Henry
County.
“We wanted to open
auditions to people who work in Hampton as well, because they
are an important part of out community,” said one of the event’s
organizers, Chris Moore.
Auditions are open to all
ages and minors must have parental or guardian consent to
participate.

information, contact Moore at 678-758-0606.
