Roy C. Brown

  Roy C. Brown, age 88, of McDonough, GA died November 21, 2012. Mr. Brown originally retired from the U.S. Navy, having served in World War II, the Korean Conflict, and the Vietnam War. He later retired from the Brannen – Goddard Co. having worked as a refrigeration/AC mechanic. He enjoyed working in his garden, fishing, and he was always available to help others, including his family, friends, neighbors and his church family. Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his father William Roy Brown and his mother Jewell Childs Brown, and his sister Martha Irene Rollins.

  He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Evelyn; children, Richard (Janet) Brown, Covington, Norman (Linda) Brown, Fayetteville, Cheri (Steve) Thrailkill, Stockbridge; his grandchildren: Tammy, Geoff, Tiffany, Matthew, Michael, Justin, Autumn; four great-grandchildren; brothers: Marvin Eugene Brown, Manchester and Ray Rollins Brown, Clemmons, North Carolina; and numerous nieces and nephews.

  Funeral Services were held November 25 from the First United Methodist Church of Stockbridge, with the Rev. Jody Ray officiating. Interment Sherwood Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Stockbridge First United Methodist Church, 4863 North Henry Blvd., Stockbridge, GA 30281, Warrior Angel Project or the general fund. Louise Scarbrough Alexander

  Mrs. Louise Scarbrough Alexander of McDonough, Georgia passed away Saturday, November 24, 2012. Mrs. Alexander was born in Cedartown, the daughter of the late Clarence Inman and Myrtle Belle Mitchell Scarbrough. Mrs. Alexander was a member of McDonough First United Methodist Church where she was active in the United Methodist Women and the Samaritans Sunday School Class when she was able to attend before moving to Kennesaw to be near her family. She was a member of the UDC, DAR, Jamestown Society, and the Pace Society. She was preceded in death by her husband, John L. Alexander, and a sister, Evelyn Russell.

  Survivors are her daughter and son-in-law, Jane and David Downs of Acworth; granddaughters, Donna Downs of Smyrna and Dyana and Scott Bishop of Marietta; great grandchildren, David and Elizabeth Bishop of Marietta and several nieces and nephews.

  Funeral services were held at McDonough First United Methodist Church with Rev. Darris Baker, Rev. James Byrd and Rev. Woody Clark officiating. Interment McDonough City Cemetery. Carolyn Hamilton

  Carolyn “Kaye” Hamilton passed away on November 24, 2012 in Locust Grove, Georgia. She was 68 years of age, and was a former resident of St. Cloud, Florida where she retired from Mercury Marine. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Beatrice Wright and her sister, Faye Zehring.

  She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Tina and Dana Moore of Locust Grove; son Chris Hamilton (Gayla) of Griffin; three grandchildren, Matthew Moore (Heather), Ryan Moore (Kristi), Brittany Moore (Michael) and great-granddaughter, Brie Moore and brother, Henry Wright (Mary) from Inverness, Florida.

  A memorial service was held November 29 at SouthCare Cremation and Funeral Society. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be made to Brightmoor Hospice or any local hospice.

 

Paul Edward Smith

  Paul Edward Smith, age 82, of McDonough, GA died November 25, 2012. He was born in Stonewall to the late William C. and Agnus Belle Harris Smith. Paul formerly owned and operated Smith Hauling.

  Paul is survived by his love of 63 years, Virginia; children, Eddie (Yvonne) Smith, Rutledge and Brenda (Homer) Tittle, Forest Park; grandchildren, Ginger (Brian), Ashley (Ron) and Joseph; great-grandchildren, Chaz and Zander.

  Funeral Services were held November 28 at First Christian Church Forest Park with Rev. Doug Holt officiating. Interment Crest Lawn Memorial Park. Johnee Louise Schroeder

  Johnee Louise Schroeder, age 74 of McDonough, Georgia passed away November 27, 2012. She was born in Birmingham, Alabama to the late John Cecil and Myrtice Louise Worthy Schroeder. Johnee was a legal secretary, was a parishioner of the Catholic Church and enjoyed socializing with family and friends.

  Her sole survivor is her aunt, Geraldine McCutchen of McDonough.

Randy Nagel

  Mr. Randy Nagel, age 55 of Stockbridge, Georgia passed away November 28, 2012. He was born in Atlanta, Georgia to Daniel Arthur and Dorothy Smith Nagel. Randy enjoyed cooking, fishing and watching football.

  Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Mariellen Nagel of Stockbridge; sons, Daniel (Carmen) Nagel of Hampton, Corey Nagel of Camp LeJeune, NC; step daughter, Jennifer (Tony) Britt of Gainesville, FL; parents, Dan and Dorothy Nagel of Fayetteville; brothers, Stanley Nagel of Fayetteville, Russell (Dawn) Nagel of McDonough; grandchildren, Brandon, Katlyn, Lexie; several nieces and nephews.

Rita Harvey Gill

  Mrs. Rita Harvey Gill, age 74 of Locust Grove, Georgia passed away November 29, 2012. She was born in Meadville, Pennsylvania to the late Charles and Virginia Roche Harvey. She served her country in the United States Army and retired from the Army Air Force Exchange Service. Rita was one of the last of the WAC before it became part of the regular Army. She was a parishioner of St. James the Apostle Catholic Church. She was a member of the American Legion and the Women of the Moose. She enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren, reading and crocheting.

  Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Jerry Gill of Locust Grove; children, Connie (Jeff) Carman of McDonough, Alisa (Jay) King of Punta Gorda, FL, Tom (Kelly) Gill of Locust Grove; grandchildren, Johnny (Kristin) Carman, Joey (Cassie) Carman, Jimmy Carman, Douglas Caswell, Kasie Caswell, Matthew Gill, Caroline Gill; great granddaughters, Jaclyn and Josie Carman; siblings, Bud (Sandy) Harvey, Jack Harvey, Nancy (Bud) Hunt, Jean Harvey all of Meadville, PA; sisters-in-law, Cheryl (Steve) Hibberts of Richmond Hill, Linda (J.W.) Ousley of Austin, TX; dearest friend, Carol Odom of Stockbridge.

Bailey Foster

  Bailey Foster, age 62, of Stockbridge, GA died November 29, 2012. He was born in Atlanta to the late Dr. Gurdon Robert and Jane Allen Callaway Foster, Jr. Bailey was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during the Vietnam conflict. He was employed with Bennett International Group, and he was an avid GA Tech fan.

  Bailey is survived by his wife: Shirley Lynne Foster, Stock-bridge; children: Arden Foster, Travis (Stephanie) Foster; brother: Dr. Bobby Foster; sisters: Mary Plishker and Betty Meadows; step-children: Michael Truelove and Lauren Truelove.

Denise Crawford Gaskill

  Mrs. Denise Crawford Gaskill, age 49 of McDonough, Georgia passed away November 29, 2012. She was born in Brunswick, Maine. Denise was a graduate of the University of Florida and was a teacher at The Lighthouse School. She was a member of the North River Church of Christ in Marietta and was involved in fundraising and other activities for the Boy Scouts. She enjoyed photography and astronomy.

  Survivors include her husband of 22 years, David Gaskill of McDonough; sons, Daniel and Douglas Gaskill; parents, Bill and Cookie Crawford of The Villages, FL; brother, David (Joline) Crawford of Orlando, FL; sister, Diana (Barry) Hall of Virginia Beach, VA; several nieces and nephews.

Lillian Juanita Peters Knight

  Mrs. Lillian Juanita Peters Knight, age 86 of Rex, Georgia passed away November 30, 2012.  She was born in Lake City, Florida to the late Robert Franklin Peters, Sr. and Rosa Naomi Rape Peters. Lillian was a member of the Rock Baptist Church.  She was active in her church, enjoyed working with children and volunteering in nursing homes with crafts. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Robert Knight and by brothers, Walter Wills, Bob Peters and Herbert Peters. 

  Survivors include her children, Jimmie (Margie) Knight of Jackson, Barbara Jean White, Claude “Charlie” Knight of Rex, Larry Knight of Stockbridge; three grandchildren and several great grandchildren; brother, Roy Peters of Centerville; nieces and nephews.

Teresa Regina Price

  Teresa Regina Price, of Hampton, passed away December 1, 2012. She was preceded in death by her husband Jessie Gordon Price.

  She is survived by her daughters Deborah (Andy) Walker and Gale (Jeff) Phillips; grandchildren Christopher Walker, Jennifer Walker and Haley Evans; sister Patsy Long; and nieces and nephews.
