A special thanks to Wade Bledsoe who brought in this picture of the
Ford Dealer, Collins Motors on Atlanta Street. Wade thinks this is from
the year 1958. The pick-up at the left is a 1940 Ford that belonged to
Wade's father-in-law.
Bob Gilbert guessed correctly and says “this photo was probably taken
in the late ‘50’s from across the street approximately where Rucker Real
Estate is now located.” Bob still owns a 1966 Ford pickup that was
purchased (new) at Collins!
Charles Joyner also guessed correctly saying that “the dealership was
owned by the Collins family that lived on College Street in McDonough.”
Ted Gleaton says “my dad, J.B. Gleaton, worked for the Collins
Dealership for 44 years.”
Joe Turner wrote in to tell us that “there appears to be a new Edsel
in the middle of the picture and they were made in 1958, 59, and 60.”
