Hampton Events

  Georgia Arbor Day is on February 15. The Tree Board of Hampton will be giving trees to residents of the city of Hampton, beginning at 9 a.m., at the Hampton Depot. Also, don’t forget the Chocolate Fest at the Hampton Depot on February 16 from 7 until 10 pm. The cost is $10 per person.  Join them for a Tiffany’s inspired theme, dance to music supplied by DJ JT. Sample sweet and savory items until your heart is content. This Main Street program will benefit residents of Hampton. The Winter Market in Hampton is going on through February. It is on Saturday from 2 - 6 p.m. at the back of East Main Street. Find the winter vegetables fresh! It will be open depending on the weather and produce availability. The Fortson Crochet Club will meet February 4 for an organizational meeting from 5:15 until 6:30 p.m. at the Fortson Library, 61 McDonough Street. AARP Defensive Driving class

  Heritage Senior Center will hold a defensive driving class on March 4 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. The cost is $12 for members and $14 for non-members. Heritage Senior Center is located at 1050 Florence McGarity Boulevard in McDonough. For more info contact them at at 770-288-7001.

 

Young Adult Book Club

  A young adult book club will be meeting at the Cochran Public Library in Stockbridge on Monday, February 4 at 6:30 p.m. The book they will be discussing is Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver. For their March 4 meeting, they will be reading The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson. Crossroads Career Network

  Crossroads Career Network meets at Stockbridge First UMC, 4863 N. Henry Blvd., Monday, February 18 at 7 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall (lower level at rear of building). Guest speaker: Judi Adams, CEO and Job Search Coach, RightChanges; Author. Henry County Beekeepers Short Course

  There will be a Henry County Beekeepers Short Course on Saturday, February 16 from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. It will be held at the Public Safety Building, 116 Zack Hinton Parkway South in McDonough. Topics covered will be: meeting the Honey Bee Colony, equipment assembly, ways to procure and install, smoker lighting, hive manipulation, extracting your honey, and issues facing the beekeeper. There will be time for questions afterward. The pre-registration program fee is $25 before or $30 at the door. Blood Drive

  On Sunday February 10, from 9:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. a Life South blood drive will be held at Mt. Carmel UMC. All are invited to participate. Please mark your calendars. The church is located at 1933 Mount Carmel Road in Hampton.

 

Mama Won’t Fly

  Union Grove High School will present the comedy: “Mama Won’t Fly” on February 13, 14, 15 at 7 p.m. at the Henry County Performing Arts Center. Tickets are $5 in advance or $7 at the door. For information or tickets contact: kbohlke@henry.k12.ga.us

 

Education Seminar

  On Tuesday, February 12 from 6 until 8 p.m., Parent-to-Parent of Georgia will present a free, informational seminar for parents called “Where Do We Go From Here? Preparing for Transition from High School.” Learn the keys to successful transition, the role of the school in transition planning, and things to consider when planning a child’s transition to adulthood.
