Willie Rosetta Rollins
Willie Rosetta Rollins, age 88, of McDonough, GA died February 2, 2013. She was born in Forsyth to Hardee Marion and Tabitha Ethridge Bentley.
Mrs. Rollins is survived by her daughters, Betty Golden, Stockbridge, Dorothy Harvey, Thomaston and Ann Hartness, Dallas; sons, Johnny Rollins, Griffin and Jimmy Rollins, Jenkinsburg; grandchildren, Diane Revelle, David Rollins, Kimberly Holmes, Jimmy Harvey, Katie Daughtery, Russell Harvey, Jason Rollins, Allen Bradley, Jamie Fischel, Wanda Jackson, Tracey Gibson, Billie Jean Nunnery, and 24 great-grandchildren.

Simon Thomas Ellis
Simon Thomas (S.T. , Tom) Ellis died February 9, 2013 at the age of 91. Tom was born to John Mundy and Rosa Crowell Ellis on July 10, 1921, in Atlanta. He learned and pursued a strong work ethic on his family farm in Fayetteville until enlisting in Army Air Corps the day following the bombing of Pearl Harbor, serving in WWII from 1941 through 1945, as Tech Sergeant and Flight Engineer. He then moved to McDonough at the request of his bride, Ann Kathleen Branan where they made their home together for the next 57 years. Tom graduated from Crichton’s Business College and was employed as a bookkeeper then claims adjuster while attending Woodrow Wilson School of Law at night, and began practicing law with E.L. Reagan in 1952 and actively practiced law until the age of 85. He was easily identified as the McDonough lawyer with the bow tie walking across the Square the same way he lived his life: fast paced. He pursued his political interests at a young age, serving as a McDonough City Councilman in 1952 until his appointment as McDonough City attorney from 1954 until his election to Georgia House of Representatives and the Georgia Senate until 1965. He was appointed as McDonough City Attorney from 1965 until his resignation in 1997. In 1964, he became a charter board member and organizer of The First State Bank, serving on the Board of Directors until 2001 at the age of 80 and as its legal counsel until 2007. Tom loved to golf, hunt, and fish and was active in many community and church organizations, teaching Men’s Sunday School classes for 40 years, serving as deacon, coaching men’s softball and youth baseball teams, charter board member of Henry County Water Authority, county attorney. His family was most blessed by his unconditional love and dedication and unquestionable moral integrity, leaving an authentic and generous legacy. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Branan Ellis, his son, T.A. Ellis.
Surviving are his daughters and son-in-laws, Ann Elaine (Jerry) Rouse, Mary Lynn (Ray) Lambert, grandchildren: Robyn (Al) Ellis Vaughn, Ansley, Sadie, and Rip Lambert, great grandchildren Jake and Rayce Vaughn, and Ryker Lambert, brother Sid (Henrietta) Ellis, sisters-in-law Sara Ellis and Elsie Branan Patrick, numerous nieces and nephews, and most special friend, Nancy Hollingsworth.
Funeral services were held February 12 at 11 a.m. from Salem Baptist Church. Rev. Dan McKay officiated. Interment McDonough City Cemetery. Guy Linward Birchfield
Mr. Guy Linward Birchfield, age 91, of Jonesboro, passed away, February 10, 2013. He was born in Ashland, AL, on May 15, 1921 to the late Mr. and Mrs. John Brewster and Mamie I. Dora Todd Birchfield. Mr. Birchfield was in the Army Air Corps during WWII stationed in India. He worked for Delta Air Lines from 1946-1986, where he also served on the board of the Delta Credit Union for 50 years. He was an avid golfer, Mason, Shriner, and active in numerous volunteer organizations. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Jonesboro. He was preceded in death by his wife; Edna Ruth Whatley, son; Jerry Linward Birchfield, brothers; Nathan Clinton Birchfield, John Ray Birchfield, Frank Willard Birchfield, sisters; Minnie Lou Brown, and Berthel Maureen Birchfield.
He is survived by his wife; Maudine Birchfield, daughter Jacqueline (Charles) Houze of McDonough, daughter-in-law; Ellen (Charles) Bledsoe of McDonough, sisters; Addie Mae (L.D.) Light of AL, Maeriol Elizabeth (Byron) Minter of AL, grandsons; Todd (Ruthanna) Birchfield of McDonough, Michael (Jessica) Houze of Atlanta, granddaughters; Kelly Birchfield and husband Carter Buttram of AL, Monica (Chris) Miner of TX, Mackenzie (Al) Garrett of VA, great grandchildren; Lindsey Miner, Mallory Miner, Evan Garrett, Liam Garrett, Corey Hall, Megan Hall and Emily Hall.

James Albert Stephens
Mr. James Albert “Jimmy” Stephens, age 57, of McDonough, GA passed away February 12, 2013. Jimmy was born in Atlanta and graduated from Tucker High School Class of ‘74’ and had an associate degree from DeKalb Junior College. Jimmy enjoyed spending time with family and friends, fishing, wood working, camping and playing his guitar.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Garner Stephens. Survivors are his wife, Lee Pullin Stephens of McDonough; son and daughter-in-law, Garner and Jessica Stephens of McDonough; granddaughter, Lila Stephens of McDonough; mother, Genie Stephens of Mansfield; brother, Dickie Stephens of Mansfield; nephews Dan and Kyle Stephens of Mansfield.

Virginia W. Allen, age 83, of Hampton, GA died Tuesday, February 12, 2013. She was born in Atlanta, GA to the late James Harley and Ola Belle Lewis Watts, Sr.

Margaret Macko Wade
Margaret Macko Wade, age 94, of McDonough, Georgia, passed away at home on Saturday February 16. Mrs. Wade was born in Pennsylvania the daughter of the late Mary Billy and Ben Macko. Margaret was born and raised in the small steel mill town of Monessen. During the great depression, she moved to New York City at the age of 18. She met her late husband Tom when she ran over him with a bicycle. They fell in love, married and began raising a family in New York. In 1961, they moved to a farm in McDonough to raise cattle. She and Tom were founding members of St. James Catholic Church. Theirs was a long love affair that lasted 67 years until his death in January of 2008. Margaret was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her children, Renee and Lester Anderson of McDonough, Andrea Lee Wade of McDonough, Maggie and George Hodges of College Park, and Jeff and Janet Wade of McDonough; grandchildren, Larry Anderson, Samantha and Ray Fowler, Wade and Ingrid Anderson, Maruja Anderson, Laurel Anderson, Parker Hodges, Margaret Hodges, Jackson Wade, Bella Wade, and Gracie Wade; 8 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren. Her husband Thomas Jefferson Wade, a son Thomas Jefferson Wade, a grandson Gordon Anderson, brothers John and Andrew Macko, and sister Alice Speakmon preceded her in death.

Sue Ann Linville Woodrum
Mrs. Sue Ann Linville Woodrum, age 67, of Stockbridge, GA passed away February 16, 2013. Sue was born in Charleston, WV the daughter of the late Kessel Cyril and Iva Jean Vickers Linville. She was saved and baptized at Beach Grove Baptist Church and later became a member of Lower Falls Baptist Church where she also worked as a secretary. Sue had retired from Southern Regional Medical Center where she worked for 15 years as an executive assistant in internal audit. She is a member of Eagles Landing Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, entertaining and hosting Christmas parties, working with crafts, cooking, yard work and her cats.
Survivors are her husband of 48 years, Douglas Woodrum of Stockbridge; daughter Michele Woodrum of Alpharetta; siblings, C.D. Linville of Yawkey, WV, Larry Linville of Yawkey, WV and Patsy Jeffers of Hamlin, WV; several nieces and nephews.
Services were held February 19 in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home with Pastor Dave Riley officiating. Sue’s cremains will be buried later in WV.
