Close to 200 Henry County leaders, residents and Scouting supporters attended the event to raise money for the Henry County Scouting program and at the same time, honored one of Henry County’s most influential youth and community quality of life advocates, Judge and Attorney Buddy Welch.

Organizing the dinner were Co-Chairs Trea Pipkin, Solicitor-General and Marcia Taylor, President and CEO of Bennett International Group. Both Co-Chairs also are instrumental in supporting various youth and community initiatives here in Henry County and the Southern Crescent. Master of Ceremonies for the evening was Ed Clark, Atlanta Motor Speedway President and General Manager.

“Each year, with the aid of influential community leaders, the Boy Scouts of America hosts a dinner to raise funds necessary to keep the Scouting Community growing and flourishing here in Henry County” says Jason Setser, Senior District Executive of the Flint River Council, Boy Scouts of America.

Mr. Setser further states that “There is no other program here or in the United States that has worked for over 100 years to instill in youth the positive values of good citizenship, positive moral values and ethical decisions. Many of Henry County’s current leadership were Scouts, some of which attained the highest award, that of Eagle Scout. Sheriff Keith McBrayer and County Chairman Tommy Smith, to name a few, earned the rank of Eagle right here in Troops from Henry County, and have dedicated their lives to making Henry County the best place to live, work and play in Georgia.”

To make a donation to Henry County Scouting, contact Jason Setser at jason.setser@scouting.org or call 770-866-8319. You can mail a donation to: Flint River Council, 1361 Zebulon Rd., PO Box 173, Griffin GA 30224.
