Henry County’s Cooking
with Leonard Polinsky

  Leonard Polinsky is a fixture at Hidden Valley Senior Center. He is an avid pool player, bridge player, and leads on keyboard with “The Geriatric Jammers.” Others usually call Leonard, “Lenny”or “Len,”as I call him. He started up the Geriatric Jammers by asking around for other seniors who could play or sing. They play every fifth Friday at Hidden Valley and just get better and better.

  Len moved to Georgia from the Chicago area in June of 1970 and lived in Dekalb County where he managed an apartment complex. This is how he met his wife, Wilma, who came to GA from Franklin, NC. Len had exit interviews with tenants moving out and Wilma happened to be one. He liked what he saw, they dated about a year and married. Len said he proposed on the lake at Northlake, while they were on a raft out in the lake. His comment was, “If she said ‘no’, I could dump her right then and there.” He did laugh when he said that…

Top Sirloin Roast
 

3-4 lb. top sirloin
1 cup orange juice
Salt and pepper
Garlic powder
Celery seed/salt 

  Stir all spices into the orange juice. Place roast into crock pot and pour the orange juice mixture over the roast. Cook on HIGH for 6 hours. Cool and place in refrigerator. The next day, slice with electric knife and serve.
