Thomas Kelley Dunn

  Thomas Kelley Dunn, 71, died April 7, 2013 of cancer. He was born in Atlanta on December 20, 1941. He graduated from the University of Georgia in 1963 with a degree in public relations and advertising. After graduating he started a very successful career in sales. While at UGA he played varsity baseball and was part of the football team. He was always fond of sports and moved to Spain in 1977 as a tennis instructor. In 1978 he found his true life’s calling, when he started to study the Bible. He was baptized in 1979 in Macon as one of Jehovah’s ordained minister. Kelley was known for his love of people which motivated him to take every opportunity to declare the good news of God’s Kingdom.

  He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Catherine, his five children Thomas, Mathis, Haley, Jennifer, Dax and his seven grandchildren Isabel, Hamilton, Dylan, Lydia, Nathan, Julia, Jessie. Other survivors include his sister and brother-in-law Luanne and Jerry Blair and his brother and sister-in-law Eddie and Cathy Dunn.

  A memorial service was held April 13 at the Kingdom Hall in Stockbridge. SouthCare Cremation and Funeral Society.

 

Katie Lou Pittman

  Mrs. Katie Lou Pittman, age 90 of McDonough, GA passed away April 10, 2013. She was born in Duluth, GA to the late R.D. and Dolly Holmes. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed. Katie was a volunteer at Henry Medical Center for 16 years and was a member of Bethany Baptist Church.  She was preceded in death by her husband, James Herbert (Bus) Pittman.

  She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Billy Sweat of McDonough; daughter, Linda East of Villa Rica; grandchildren, Louann Horton, Debbie Clark, James Sweat and Scott East; 8 great grandchildren.

Clark Harrison Thackerson

  Clark Harrison Thackerson, age 79, of Stockbridge, GA died April 10, 2013. He was born in Austell to the late William and Susie Rogers Thackerson. Clark was a 1952 Roosevelt High School graduate. He attended GA Tech and played on the 1953 basketball team. Clark loved drawing house plans, and he enjoyed classic car restoration.

  Clark is survived by his wife of 58 years, Joanne Thackerson, Stockbridge: children: Stephen (Carolyn) Thackerson, Elijay; Judy Ann (Greg) Burke, Stockbridge; Susan Hoffman, Stockbridge; grandchildren: Deena Thackerson, Saleecia Thackerson, Micah Thackerson, Sara Coon, Samantha Coon, Madeline Hoffman; and eight great-grandchildren.

Kenneth Pierce Martin

  Kenneth Pierce Martin, age 84, of Stockbridge, GA died April 10, 2013. He was born in Jacksonville, FL to the late Pierce and Eunice Griffin Martin.  Mr. Martin was a World War II Veteran, serving in the Navy and followed his service as an Air Traffic Controller for the FAA with 31 years of service.

  Kenneth is survived by his wife of 62 years, Evelyn Rayner Martin; children: Brenda (Allen) Aycox, Suwanee; Douglas Kenneth Martin, Williamson; Vicki Martin, Stockbridge; Judy (Jeff) Floyd, McDonough; grandsons: Mark Blackwell; Jeffery Blackwell; Paul Floyd; Matthew Floyd; sister: Gwendolyn Thompson, Tallahassee, FL; and 5 great-grandchildren.

Johnny Glen Hall

  Johnny Glen Hall, age 75, of McDonough, GA passed away April 11, 2013 at Piedmont Hospital.

Mary J. Foster

  Mary J. Foster age 68 of Jonesboro, Georgia passed away April 11, 2013. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed. Mary was a member of Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church in McDonough.

  She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Doug Foster; daughter, Debbie Britt of McDonough; son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Tammey Foster of Hampton; grandchildren, Garrison Britt, Delaney Britt, Drew Foster and Ansley Foster; brother, Tommy Johnson of Jonesboro; sister, Pat Alexander of Covington.

Opal T. White

  Opal T. White, age 85 of Locust Grove, GA passed away April 11, 2013. She was the daughter of the late Horace Lee and Lucy Tingle. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be greatly missed. A faithful Christian, she was a member of Locust Grove First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 51 years, Earl M. White.

  She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Angela and Kevin Fort of McDonough; son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Pam White of Locust Grove; grandchildren, Courtney (Eric) Hurst of Atlanta, Amy (Ben) Zahn of Locust Grove and Hayley Fort of Alpharetta; one great grandchild, Ezra Zahn of Locust Grove; sisters, Laurenze (Lloyd) Pittman of Locust Grove and Martha Lois Maloch of Locust Grove.

David Arthur Austin

  Mr. David Arthur “Goober” Austin, age 55, of McDonough, GA passed away April 11, 2013. David was born in Atlanta, Georgia.  He graduated from Henry County High School and worked most of his working career for Coca Cola as a fork lift operator. David enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing golf, the beach, and his dog “Maggie May.” He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Wilbur Austin; sister, Gloria Austin.  

  Survivors are his wife, Marsha Austin of McDonough; children, David “Nick” Austin (Kelli) of Locust Grove, Michelle Austin of Hampton, and Craig Smith (Charlie) of Williamson; mother, Jessie Lee Austin of McDonough; seven grandchildren; brother, Bill Austin (Sue) of Locust Grove; several nieces and nephews.

Kathleen Luke Rumpf

  Kathleen Luke Rumpf, age 82, of McDonough, GA died Saturday, April 13, 2013.  She was born in Fitzgerald, GA to George Micheal and Gladys Mae Brubaker Luke.   She is preceded in death by her husband William George Rumpf, Sr., her son Jerry Barnes and her sister Norma Luke.

  Kathleen is survived by children: Sharon Freeman, Forsyth, Cathy Barnes, McDonough, Tommy (Sheena) Barnes, Butler, Kenny (Patty) Barnes, Stockbridge, Billy Barnes, Atlanta, George (Teresa) Rumpf, Locust Grove and Terry (Rita) Barnes, Stockbridge; brothers: Kenneth Luke and Mike Luke; sisters: Betty Nyberg and Erin Kimbrell; 16 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter; numerous neices and nephews.
