The taste buds of Henry
Countians are certain to be aroused by a recent announcement
coming from Stockbridge.
City officials have
confirmed that a new Krispy Kreme Doughnuts establishment is
coming to town. This brief statement was posted April 30 on the
city’s official Facebook page: “Psst .... Krispy Kreme is coming
to the City of Stockbridge. Stay tuned for details!”
That single sentence drew
71 comments and 310 likes, indicating that the arrival of a new
Krispy Kreme store could be a welcome addition to the city’s
“We are delighted that
such an iconic American company has expressed a desire to locate
in the City of Stockbridge,” said Mayor Mark Alarcon.
This would be the 20th
Krispy Kreme location in Georgia and the eighth in the metro
Atlanta area. The closest store for most Henry Countians now is
in Riverdale on Highway 85. There are two in or near downtown
Atlanta, on Ponce de Leon Avenue and on Evans Street, along with
locations in Duluth, Lilburn, Marietta and Roswell, according to
the company’s web site.
The company has been in existence since
1937, when the first store opened in North Carolina. There are
now more than 100 locations in 37 states, the District of
Columbia and Canada.
