Hampton Events

  On May 18 and 19 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Hampton will have a citywide clean up. Residents can bring unwanted items to Tom Eason Drive. On May 18 at 9 a.m., the City will install the memorial markers.  Meet at the old fire station on James Street. On May 25 at 7 p.m., they will show a free movie at McBrayer Park. On May 27 at 8 p.m., the American Legion Post No. 330 in Hampton will hold the first candlelight vigil for Memorial Day in the depot park. Hampton Idol, Angela Newton, will perform several patriotic numbers. Also, if weather permits, a Huey will fly over and salute. 4-H Summer Camp

 4-H summer camp for Henry County 5th grade students is filling up quickly.  A week of fun and fantastic memories await at Rock Eagle 4-H Center, June 10 - 14. Parents, if you have not seen the Henry County camp brochure about this chance of a lifetime, please contact Laura Garrett at the Henry County Extension office, 770-288-8421.


AARP 55 Alive Mature Driving Class

  AARP instructor John Milani is teaching a course in defensive driving this June at the Heritage Bank community room in McDonough. Milani’s “55 Alive Mature Driving Class” can help participants receive discounts on their auto insurance. A certificate will be awarded upon completion of the class. Registration costs $12 for AARP members and $14 for non-members. You must be at least 25 years old to register. Henry County High School Class Reunion

  The Henry County High Class of 1973 is planning their 40th reunion to be held Saturday, August 31, from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. at Pilgreen’s at Lake Dow in McDonough. For more information contact Henley Varner at 678-549-5159 or
