Gallery in the Grove
showcases local artist

Art enthusiasts had the opportunity to enjoy the work of local artist Moira Fisher at a cocktail reception held earlier this month, where she was the Visual Artists Collective of Henry County artist of the month for June.

The reception and art show was held at the Gallery in the Grove, located on Highway 42 in Locust Grove, where Fisher was on hand to welcome guests and discuss her body of work.

“Mostly I paint in acrylics because they are quick-drying and when I’m inspired, I just want to get it on the canvas,” said Fisher, whose collection featured a variety of paintings, including flowers, nature scenes, seascapes and landscapes.

Fisher, who now lives in McDonough, said she has been painting for most of her life, although she stopped for a brief time after moving to the United States from South Africa in 1993. She said she and her husband were busy with mission work and were living out of a travel trailer, curtailing space and time to paint.

Fisher said she wants to share her love of art with others and will be hosting painting classes in the month of June. Classes are $35 and all supplies are provided. For more information, call 678-522-1118, or find her on Facebook to see her latest work.
