Henry County Schools top state averages on CRCT

Henry County Schools released the Criterion-Referenced Competency Test (CRCT) results for the district last week, and the statistics provided by the Georgia Department of Education show Henry County is ahead of state averages in test scores.

The CRCT was administered to students from third grade to eighth grade, testing in reading, English/language arts, math, science and social studies. Each grade in Henry County scored higher than the state average in every subject. The reading component of the test yielded the highest scores across the county, as 97 percent of students met or exceeded standards in this category.

Several areas of the test showed promising progress in Henry County. Fourth grade students improved in every section except English/language arts, which remained the same from 2012. Social studies scores improved in every grade except third. Science scores increased in four of the six grade levels, while math improved in fourth, fifth and sixth grades. Individual school scores have yet to be released.

In a released statement, Superintendent Dr. Ethat Hildreth praised the CRCT results and the students for their continued efforts. “We are pleased that recently released scores show our students outperforming state averages, and the percentage of students meeting and exceeding standards for our district continues to move closer to our goal of 100 percent,” said Hildreth.
