Heritage Writers Group

  The Heritage Writers Group will have their next meeting July 6 from 2 - 4 p.m. at their new location, Heritage Bank, 203 Keys Ferry Street in McDonough. 

 

County Extension Canning Workshop

  There will be a workshop on canning tomato and green chile salsa on Thursday, July 18 from 10 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. It requires prepaid registration of $10 and the class size is limited, so register early. This workshop will cover preserving food safety and will be taught by University of Georgia Family and Consumer Sciences Agent, Susan Howington. Registration forms are available at their office, located at 97 Lake Dow Road in McDonough. Make checks payable to Henry County 4-H. Hampton Events

  There will be a July 4th Parade in Hampton starting at 10 a.m. Line the streets then gather at McBrayer Park for food, fun, and games until 2 p.m. For more info contact Candy Franklin at 770-946-4306 or cfranklin@cityofhampton-ga.gov

 

Henry County High School Class Reunion

  The Henry County High Class of 1973 is planning their 40th reunion to be held Saturday, August 31, from 7-11 p.m. at Pilgreen’s at Lake Dow in McDonough. For more information contact Henley Varner at 678-549-5159 or hvarner15@aol.com.

 

Toastmasters meeting

  If you have a fear of public speaking or would simply like to become a better speaker, Henry County Toastmasters can help. The group meets on the first and third Thursdays of each month from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Henry Medical Center Education Building (in the Boardroom), 1133 Eagles Landing Parkway, Stockbridge. Gold Wing Road Riders

  Chapter A of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association meets the third Saturday of every month at Southern Cooking, located at 406 Highway 155 South in McDonough. They have dinner at 5:30 p.m. and the meeting begins at 6:30. For more info contact Larry at 678-432-5910.

 

Cotton Indian Gem & Mineral Society meeting

Free Genealogy Workshops

  Three Free Genealogy Workshop’s will be offered by Sara Jane Overstreet, of the Andrew McBride Chapter DAR and the Genealogical Society of Henry and Clayton Counties, Inc. Classes will be 10:30 a.m. until noon on July 20, September 21, and November 16. Laptop/I-Pad encouraged but not required. Star Touring and Riding

 The McDonough Chapter of Star Touring and Riding has their monthly meeting on the last Wednesday of every month at 7 p.m. in Chevy’s just off the Square in McDonough.
