Grief Share Class

  Wesley Way UMC will present a 13 week spiritually based class for those who have lost a loved one. This class is free and open to the public. The class will be led by Dody Morris, beginning August 21 through November 20, and will meet on Wednesday’s from 6:30 to 8 p.m at the church in room 216. Topics include: living with grief, the effects of grief, loss of a child, what is heaven like?, journey of grief, loss of a spouse and suicide. There is a sign up sheet in the Narthex. Genealogical Society Meeting

  The Genealogy Society of Henry and Clayton Counties, Inc. cordially invites the community to their free meeting on August 17 at 10 a.m. in the First Baptist Church Educational Building. The speaker, Ms. Joanne Smalley, will discuss “Property Tax Digests and the Genealogist.” Ms. Smalley retired from the Georgia Archives after working for 32 years in the Research Section. They will adjourn to the Brown House for refreshments following the meeting.

 

Crossroads Career Network

  Crossroads Career Network will meet at Stockbridge First UMC on Monday, August 19, at 7 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall (lower level at rear of building). Guest Speaker: Dr. Angelyn Hayes, Assistant Vice-President for Student Affairs, Clayton State University. The Topic will be: Etiquette and Ethics in the Job Search: Little Things Mean a Lot. St. James Preschool Enrolling

  St. James Preschool on Highway 155 in McDonough is now enrolling for the 2013-2014 school year. Parents of 3 and 4 year old children can choose from a 3, 4 or 5-day a week program. Two year olds can meet 2 or 3 days a week. They also offer a Mother’s Morning Out program of supervised activities for children 12 months to 23 months. Parents can choose 1 or 2 days a week. Henry County High School Class Reunion

  The Henry County High Class of 1973 is planning their 40th reunion to be held Saturday, August 31, from 7-11 p.m. at Pilgreen’s at Lake Dow in McDonough. For more information contact Henley Varner at 678-549-5159 or hvarner15@aol.com.

 

Hampton Events

  On August 17 from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. there will be a Community Yard Sale on East Main Street. No fee or permit required to set up. That evening at 6:30 p.m. the Semi-Finals of Hampton’s Got Talent will be held at McBrayer Park. That night come see the final movie of the season at McBrayer Movietime. It will begin at dark. The  Middle Georgia Model Railroad Club will have a display at the Hampton Depot on Saturday, August 17 from 10 a.m. until 5 pm. and on Sunday, August 18 from Noon until 5 p.m. This event is Sponsored by Hampton Main Street program.

 

Pet Appreciation Day at Tractor Supply Company

  Next week marks the third annual Pet Appreciation Week at Tractor Supply Company. This year’s event will be held August 14 - 18. The main event will be on Saturday, August 17, and will feature pet adoptions, giveaways, nutrition demonstrations and more.
