Bernice McGee

  Bernice McGee, of Covington, GA, aged 83 years, passed away on August 22, 2013. She was born in Olustee, FL on February 15, 1930 to the late Leonard Jefferson and Annie Jane Mikell.  She was preceded in death by her son, Jerry McGee and grandson, Neil McGee.

  Mrs. McGee is survived by her husband of 67 years: Claude McGee, Covington; son: Dan (Dale) McGee, Griffin; daughter:  Barbara Preston, Covington; daughter-in-law:  Sherry McGee, McDonough; sisters:  Gracie Williams, Cromwell, OK; Mary Davis, Lake City, FL; Martha (Allen) Dean, Clarksville; Ruth Wiggins, Sorrento, FL; grandchildren:  Leah (Mark) Frickey, Chris (Rebecca) McGee, Keith (Charlin) Preston, Mark (Shonda) McGee, Kyle (Nikki) McGee, Melanie McGee; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Mary Inez Ward Brooks

  Mary Inez Ward Brooks, age 98, died August 22, 2013.  She was a native and long-time resident of Monroe, GA born to the late John Usher and Mary Frances Ward.  She and her husband lived in Tucker, GA for 33 years, and later moved to Stone Mountain where she lived for thirty years.  At the time of her death she was a resident of Benton House Assisted Living in Stockbridge where she was loved and elected as Prom Queen. To know Mrs. Brooks was to love her.  She was so proud of her children and her family and doted on her grandchildren.  She was a kind and loving mom and grandmother.  She was greatly loved by all who knew her.  Mrs. Brooks was a member of Mt. West Church of God and had attended Stockbridge First Baptist Church the past three and a half years and was a member of the Caring Couples Sunday School Class. Mrs. Brooks was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Alton W. Brooks, and her grandson, Gerald Clay Smith.

  Survivors left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Lanette Smith (Marion) of Stockbridge and Regina Brooks of Alpharetta; her grandson, Mark Smith (Melissa) of McDonough; great-grandchildren, Preston Smith (Tiffany) of McDonough, Justin Smith (Amber) of Jonesboro, and Hannah Smith of McDonough; great-great-grandchildren Abby Nguyen and Addy Smith of Jonesboro; and two sisters, Runelle Milligan and Laverne Lowe of Monroe.

Harry Lee Duncan

  Harry Lee Duncan, of Stockbridge, GA, age 87, passed away on August 24, 2013. He was born to the late Gratt Duncan and Della Wesley Duncan, on May 25, 1926, in Tipple, WV.  Harry was preceded in death by his wife Maxine Erma Duncan.

  Mr. Duncan is survived by his children: Gratt S. Duncan, Locust Grove; Terry Duncan Moody, Stockbridge; Patty Duncan Walker, Mullins, WV; siblings:  James Duncan, McDonough; Norma Hurst, Leeberg, FL; Freida Bower, McDonough; seven grandchildren and 14 great-granddaughters.

  A memorial service celebrating the life of Harry was held August 28 at the Chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors. Mr. Duncan will be interred at a later date in Maple Meadow Hollow, WV. Rheda Cavanaugh Wanstreet

  Rheda Cavanaugh Wanstreet, age 82 of McDonough Georgia died at her home on August 24, 2013.  She was born in Elizabeth, PA, and graduated from WVU with a degree in Math and Catholic University Master's with degrees in Math, German, and  French. Rheda was a faithful member of St James the Apostle Church in McDonough. Rheda was a tireless volunteer and lay minister for her church. She delivered Meals on Wheels, visited the sick at Henry Hospital, Sacred Journey Hospice, nursing homes and private homes delivering communion and counseling those in need. She not only volunteered for those organizations but also financially contributed to them. Her husband, Robert preceded her in death as well as brothers:  George Jr., James, Daniel Sr.; sisters:  Patricia Vogler, and Carol Cannon.

  She is survived by nieces and nephews Ellen Heath, John Vogler Jr., Chris Cannon, Beth Seith, Michael Cavanaugh, Frances Dawkins, Jeannie Hess and many great nieces and nephews. Also surviving her are her brother, Joseph Cavanaugh from Morgantown WV and Kathleen Cavanaugh from Powder Springs and her beautiful faithful companion, her dog, Brigid.

   Services were held August 28 at St. James the Apostle Church. Her body was cremated and will be flown back to Morgantown WV for burial. Chad Anthony Annis

  Chad Anthony Annis, age 28, of Macon, Georgia formerly of Henry County passed away August 25, 2013.  Chad was born in Killeen, Texas. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, riding bikes, music, and video games.  Chad had worked for Georgia Industries for the Blind in Warner Robins most of his working career. 

  Survivors are his wife, Betsy Annis; children, Andrew Lassiter and Christopher Abel Annis all of Macon; mother and stepfather, Sandra and George Fine of Rex; father, Tony Annis of Griffin; siblings, Daniel Annis of Rex and Porter Annis of Griffin; grandparents, Ed and Laura Logan of Topeka, Kansas, Patricia Annis of Conley and Dan Annis of Griffin.  

   A memorial service for Chad will be held Friday, August 30 at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday one hour prior to the service. Haisten Funeral Home, McDonough, 770-914-8833.
