 New Hope UMC will sponsor a Chicken BBQ and bake sale on Saturday, September 21. They have been told that they have some of the best cooks in Henry County. The church is located at 1960 New Hope Road in McDonough.

Mt. Bethel Methodist’s Sisters in Christ will have a yard sale Sept. 27 and Sept. 28 from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the corner of South Ola Road and 81 East. Glen Haven Baptist Church invites the community to hear Sr. Pastor Stan Berrong on Sunday, September 22 in the 8:15, 9:45, and 11 a.m. services. McDonough First United Methodist Church invites the community to a BBQ held by First UMC Men’s Club on Sunday, Oct. 6 at 5 p.m. to kick off their Fall Revival. BBQ Chicken plates are $8. The revival will be from Oct. 6 - 8. Key speaker is Dr. John Ed Mathison, a nationally known author of several books. Theme: “When God Redefines the Possible.” Services will be held Sunday, October 6 at 8:30 and 11 a.m. as well as 7 p.m. nightly Sunday through Tuesday. A free Power Lunch will be October 7 and 8 at noon in the fellowship hall with a meditation by Dr. Mathison. St Joseph’s Episcopal Church’s new Rector will be Father Scott Harding. His first service will be on Sunday, Oct. 20. The official installation by the Bishop will not come for several months after that. Sunday services are at 8:30 and 10:30 a.m with nursery and child care available. Henry Baptist Church will present a 13-week spiritually based class for those who have lost a loved one. This class is free and open to the public. The class is currently meeting on Sundays from 3 to 5 p.m. Topics include: living with grief, the effects of grief, loss of a child, what is heaven like, journey of grief, loss of a spouse, and suicide. Mount Zion United Methodist Church invites the community to their Fifth Sunday Sing-A-Long at 5 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 29 in the sanctuary. Guests from other churches in the community will participate, and congregational singing will be led by Mike Wallace, with Alice Wallace as pianist. Refreshments afterward in Harper Hall. One Heart Community Church has an After School Program available from 1 until 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. They will serve and minister to the homeless in Atlanta on September 21. Road Riders for Jesus motorcycle ministry (Stockbridge chapter) meets at the church Sept. 28 at 9 a.m. They will be riding to Juliette for lunch at the Whistle Stop Cafe.
