Cub Scouts

  Faith Baptist Church, located at 346 Highway 138 E. (Corner of Highway 138 and Millers Mill Road) in Stockbridge, is now sponsoring Cub Scout Pack 346. This Cub Scout Pack is open to boys in Grades 1 - 5 and meets each Tuesday at 7 p.m. For more information, contact Ray or Bobbie Scott at 678-644-5055.

 

Henry Master Gardeners to have Bill Waldrop on October 1.

  Henry County Master Gardeners Extension Volunteers  invite everyone to attend  a program on Tuesday, October 1 at 7 p.m. at the Henry County Extension Office, located at 97 Lake Dow Rd., McDonough, Georgia.  The featured speaker will be Bill Waldrop, who is an expert on daylilies. Mr. Waldrop is an attorney but has been growing daylilies for over 20 years.  He founded the Cobb County Daylily Society and has been featured on “Gardener’s Diary” on HGTV. There will be an auction after the program for various daylilies from Mr. Waldrop’s garden.

 

Hampton Events

  The last day for the Friday market will be Sept. 27. The Bear Creek Festival will be held Saturday, Sept. 28 from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Enjoy the Haunted Hill House of Horror hayride and outdoor maze for only $5. The official opening of the haunted house will be at 8 p.m. that night and continue each weekend through the end of October. Tickets are $10 per person and the event will take place at the old City Shop on Tom Eason Drive. The Fortson Crochet Club meets the first Monday of the month at 5:15 p.m. The Hampton Book Club meets the second Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in Fortson Library.  Booklist is in the library. Bethany Baptist to host ESL class

  Bethany Baptist Church in McDonough is hosting English as a Second Language (ESL) instructor training at the Church. This training course is oriented toward teaching conversational English as an outreach ministry. Class times will be: Thursday, Nov. 14 from 6 to 9 p.m.; Friday, Nov. 15 from 6 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 16 from 8:30  to 5:30 p.m. Cost for the training is $45, payable to Bethany Baptist Church. Lunch is provided on Saturday, the final day of ESL instruction training. Participants must attend all 14 1/2 hours of training to receive North American Mission Board certification for ESL instruction. Fall Festival and Yard Sale

  Trinity Family Worship Center will host a Fall Festival and Community Yard Sale Sept. 28, from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. The church is located at 810 New Morn Drive, Hampton. Grief Share Class

  Wesley Way UMC will present a 13 week spiritually based class for those who have lost a loved one. This class is free and open to the public. The class will be led by Dody Morris, running through Nov. 20, and will meet on Wednesdays from 6:30 to 8 p.m at the church in room 216. Topics include: living with grief, the effects of grief, loss of a child, what is heaven like?, journey of grief, loss of a spouse and suicide. There is a sign up sheet in the narthex. Sharon School to hold Fall Festival

  The Sharon School at Sharon Baptist Church will have their first fall festival on October 18 from 5 until 8 p.m. They will have craft vendors, food, games, live entertainment, and lots more fall fun for the entire family and it’s open to the community. The church is located at 571 North Ola Road in McDonough.

 

3rd Annual Save the Udders Day and Diva Dash 5K

  Southern Belle Farm will host their 3rd Annual Save the Udders Day and Diva Dash 5K on Saturday, October 5. The Diva Dash 5K/10K/1-Mile starts at 9 a.m. The event begins at 10:30 a.m. Farm goers are encouraged to wear pink for a special discount, and breast cancer survivors will be honored with free admission on this day. A special program on breast cancer awareness honoring survivors with a guest speaker will be followed by a pink parade and a pink balloon release. Southern Belle Farm is located at 1767 Turner Church Road in McDonough.

 

New Creation Christian to hold Family Fun Day

  New Creation Christian Academy will have their 1st Annual Family Fun Day on Saturday, September 28 at 5 p.m. There will be a silent auction, inflatables, BBQ, face painting and more.
