Locust Grove grooves for
ninth straight year

By Alex Welch
Assistant Editor

Groovin… in The Grove returned to Locust Grove for the ninth straight year on Saturday, bringing hundreds of local residents out for a night of food, entertainment and plenty of unique decorations. Guests decorated their tables with a particular theme of their choice, ranging from campfire cowboys to football fans.

The masquerade group won Most Outrageous.

Main Street Manager Mallory Rich said the event is the most important of the year for the Locust Grove Main Street Program, which benefits from the money raised.

A group of poker dogs brought out a full card table for the night.

“It’s the Main Street Program’s big event to raise awareness about the program and to raise funds. All of the money we made will go back into downtown, mostly into the façade grant program,” said Rich.

The Grooviest... in The Grove award went to the group of football fans, who brought an inflatable goalpost for their theme of the night.                                          Photo by Alex Welch

Barbara Price, treasurer of the Main Street Program, has seen every Groovin... in The Grove, and she said “just about everyone agreed this was the best one yet.”
