Catherine Sailors

  Catherine Sailors, age 93, of Stockbridge, GA died September 11, 2013. She was born in Atlanta, GA to the late Clyde and Effie Wood Thomason. She was preceded in death by her son, James Raymond Sailors; daughter, Virginia Ann Sailors; and husband, James Mayo Sailors.

  Catherine is survived by her children: Brenda Joyce Stodghill, Stockbridge, Larry (Brenda) Sailors, McDonough; Lamar Sailors, Stockbridge; Gail Sailors (George) Drake, Gainesville; Dale Bubba Sailors, Stockbridge; sister, Joann Wilbanks; brother, Jack Thomason; grand children; great grand-children, and great-great-grandchildren.

  Funeral services were held September 15 at the chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors. Interment Crest Lawn Memorial Park.

 

Emmi Cate Waters and Leighton Waters

  Emmi Cate Waters and Leighton Waters, the infant twin daughters of Laurie and Michael Waters died September 12, 2013.  

  In addition to their loving parents, the twins are survived by their sister, Blakely Waters; their maternal grandparents, James Perry and Melissa Chappell; their paternal grandparents, Roger and Sandra Waters; their great-grandparents, Herschel and Marie Smith and Velma Waters; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

  A funeral service for the twins was held September 15 at Salem Baptist Church in McDonough. Rev. Dan McKay and Rev. Richard C. Statham officiated. Burial at Salem Baptist Church Cemetery. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the Music Ministry at Salem Baptist Church, 1724 Georgia 155 N McDonough, GA 30252. Sara Merle Higgins

  Sara Merle Higgins, age 91, of McDonough, GA died September 17, 2013. She was born in Franklin to the late Paul and Ruby Adams Hearn. She was a member of Jackson First United Methodist. Sara was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; sister, Eloise Wingo, and her brothers, Sanford Hearn, Maurice Hearn and Gene Hearn.

  Sara is survived by her siblings: Hazel Ray, Thomas Hearn; Jewel Smith, Roe Hearn, and numerous nieces and nephews.

  Funeral Services were held September 19 at the Chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors with Rev. John Brantley officiating. Interment Hillcrest Cemetery Park. Donations may be made to the charity of your choice.

 

Miriam Wilson Brassell

  Mrs. Miriam Wilson Brassell, age 73, of McDonough, GA passed away September 23, 2013. Mrs. Brassell was born in Henry County the daughter of the late Marvin Tallmadge and Alline Moore Wilson. She was a member of Wesley Way United Methodist Church. Mrs. Brassell spent most of her working career as an administrative assistant for the Georgia Department of Education. She enjoyed spending time with family, friends, and her granddaughter. She also enjoyed the beach and bowling.

  Survivors are her husband of 47 plus years, Jack Brassell of McDonough; son and daughter-in-law; Dr. David Brassell and wife, Helga of McDonough; granddaughter, Hannah Brassell of McDonough; sister, Janice Howell and her husband Jim of McDonough and nephew, Jeff Howell and wife Wendy of McDonough.

Brenda Freeman Savage

  Brenda Freeman Savage, age 66, of Stockbridge, GA died September 24, 2013. She was born in Georgetown, SC on October 11, 1946 to the late Robert and Juanita Freeman. Brenda was employed by the Internal Revenue Service as a special agent and then by Delta Airlines as an executive secretary before having to retire because of health reasons. She was very active with her husband in the American Amateur Baseball Congress (A.A.B.C.), the Georgia Amateur Baseball Association (G.A.B.A.) and the early formation of the North Henry Athletics Association. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Gail Freeman and Donna Thompson.

  Brenda will forever be loved and missed by her husband of 48 years, William “Bill” Savage, Stockbridge; children: Robert “Robbie” Savage, Suzette (Eric) Darst; sister: Patricia Butts. She was known as Gan-Monie from her grandchildren, who were the real joy of Brenda’s life: Robert “RJ” Savage, Jr., Nicholas “Nick” Savage, Emily Savage, Christin (Tyler) Jenkins, Michael Cooper, Halle Darst, Chloe Darst; and great-grandchildren: Kylee Jenkins, Summer Jenkins and Leah Jenkins.

Mary Betz

  Mary Betz, age 84, of Griffin, GA died Sunday, September 29, 2013. She was born in Postelle, TN to the late Charles H. and Minnie Belle Quinn Griffin. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Michael F. Betz.

  Mary is survived by her children: Becky Bell, Warm Springs; Lola (Frank) Lewis, McDonough; Don (Beverly) Haren, Jackson; Donna Kingston, Newnan; Robert (Linda) Haren, Griffin; Kathy (Dan) Wilson, Locust Grove; Joe Haren, Griffin; Jeff Haren, Savannah; Rick (Julie) Haren, Griffin; 22 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren.

Ernest Clifford Bloodworth

  Mr. Ernest Clifford Bloodworth, age 86, of McDonough, GA passed away September 29, 2013. Mr. Bloodworth was born in Oglethorpe County, GA the son of the late William Elmer and Daisy Mattie Gee Bloodworth.  Mr. Bloodworth was self-employed as a builder and developer; he served his country in the US Army during WWII. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, hunting, fishing and sports. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Terry Bloodworth and all of his siblings. 

  Funeral services for Mr. Bloodworth were held October 2 in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home with Rev. Dave Riley officiating. Interment Forest Hills Cemetery in Morrow. Blaine Alan Tallman

  Mr. Blaine Alan Tallman, age 51, of McDonough, GA passed away September 30, 2013. Mr. Tallman was born in Atlanta, Georgia. He was preceded in death by brothers, Ronnie, Richard and Stanley Tallman. 

  He is survived by daughters, Crystal Dailey and Kim Tallman; mother, Jackie Tallman; father, Ronald Tallman; brothers, Kenny Zyeila, Tim Tallman, Gregg Tallman, and Robert Tallman.

Jerry Calvin Daniels

  Mr. Jerry Calvin Daniels, age 65 of Stockbridge, Georgia passed away September 30, 2013.  He was born in Atlanta, Georgia to the late Ora Elizabeth Weems.  He was a graduate of Fulton High School and Atlanta Area Tech.  Jerry served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was a member of Eastside Baptist Church in Stockbridge.  He retired after 40 years as a TV Repair Technician and enjoyed going to car shows and restoring his ’70 Chevelle.  Jerry was known as “Big’un” to those closest to him.

  He is survived by his wife, Linda M. Daniels; son and daughter in law, Jerry and Michelle Daniels, Jr.; granddaughters, Kaitlin Grace and Reagan Lee; brother, Charles Daniels; sister and brother-in-law, Robyn and John Quinter; 10 cousins; 18 nieces and nephews; four sisters-in-law and three brothers-in-law.
