  New Hope UMC will have their Homecoming on October 13 with guest speaker Rev. Jim Wellman. Services will begin at 11 a.m., with lunch served after. Bring a covered dish and join them. The church is located at 1960 New Hope Road in McDonough.


  Flippen United Methodist Church will host a Catfish Fry on Saturday, October 26 from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. The meal will include catfish, hush puppies, french fries, cole slaw, drink and dessert.   Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church will have their Fall Festival on Thursday, October 31 from 5 until 8 p.m. They will have Trunk or Treat, a cakewalk, games, free hot dog supper, country store, and more.   Oakland Baptist Church will have a Trunk-R-Treat on October 26 from 4 - 6 p.m. They will have hot dogs, candy, a bouncy house, live music and face painting. Call the church office at 770-957-1222  for vendor fees and form. The church is located at 1005 Hwy 81 West in McDonough.


  McDonough Presbyterian Church McYouth will have a Drive Thru Lunch on Saturday, October 19 from 11 a.m. until 2 pm. Lunch is 1/2 chicken, chips, and a cookie. Cost is $9 per plate.   McDonough First United Methodist Church is sponsoring Fall Upward Basketball for children ages K5 – 8th Grade.  Register Online at or at the church’s gym on Tuesday, October 15 and Thursdays, October 10 and 17 from 6 until 8 p.m. Please register early as the deadline is Saturday, October 26.   The cost is $80 per child which includes shorts for basketball or mock turtlenecks for cheerleading. Discounts are available for families with multiple children.    The church is located at 151 Macon Street in McDonough.


Shiloh Baptist Church invites the community to come and eat with the Youth Ministry on Oct. 15 and Nov. 19 at Zaxby’s on Highway 20/81 near Wal-Mart. Zaxbys will donate 10% of all proceeds spent between 5 and 8 p.m. to help meet their goal on the Harvest Campaign. Call the church at 770-957-2344.   Community Bible Church will have their Trunk N Treat at the following locations: Comm-unity Main Campus on Sunday, October 27 at 5 p.m. The location is 2001 Jodeco Road in Stockbridge. It will also be held at Community Morrow Campus at Southlake Festival on Thursday, October 31 at 5 p.m. The location is 1550 Southlake Parkway in Morrow.


  People Of God’s Choice Church Inc. invite the community to their 2nd Annual Community Meet and Greet Fish Fry on Saturday, October 12 at noon. This event will have free food, fun, games, and fellowship. The church is located at 3359 Jodeco Road, Suite F, in Jonesboro. For more info visit  


  The Youth of Philippi Baptist Church in Locust Grove will have a church yard sale on October 12 from 8:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. A Fish/Chicken Fry will begin at 11:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. Fish/Chicken Plates will cost $8 per plate for adults and $5 per plate for children under 12. A  Junior (K-5th Grades) Cornhole-Bag Toss Tournament will begin at 2 p.m. and a Senior (6th Grade and UP) Cornhole-Bag Toss Tournament  will begin at 3 p.m. There will be a charge to enter.
