Hampton Events

  The Hampton Haunted House is at 16 Tom Eason Drive, each weekend in October plus Halloween night. It is open from dusk until 11:30 p.m. and the cost is $10 per person. There will be a $1500 Zombie Scholarship for Henry County 2014 Graduates. Students check with your guidance counselor. The Great Pumpkin Haunted Festival is October 26 at the Haunted House on Tom Eason. 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. The Chili Cook-off is from 2 until 4 p.m. Cook’s entry fee $10; tasting spoons and 10 samplings $1.00. Apply online at www.cityofhampton-ga.gov. The Undead Dash, a Bloody 5K that benefits Henry Players will be on Oct. 26. Bethany Baptist to host ESL class

  Bethany Baptist Church in McDonough is hosting English as a Second Language (ESL) instructor training at the church. This training course teaches conversational English as an outreach ministry. Class times are Thursday, Nov. 14 from 6 to 9 p.m.; Friday, Nov. 15 from 6 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 16 from 8:30  to 5:30 p.m. Cost for the training is $45, payable to Bethany Baptist Church. Lunch is provided on Saturday, the final day of ESL instructor training. Participants must attend all 14 1/2 hours of training to receive North American Mission Board certification for ESL instruction. Western Festival and Chili Cook Off

  The Henry County Republican Party is hosting a Western Festival and Chili Cook Off on Saturday, Oct. 26 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Booths Crossing Shopping Center, 106 Woosley Road in Hampton. Admission is $6. Sample chili and see their recreated Western town.

 

Grief Share Class

  Wesley Way UMC presents a 13 week spiritually based class for those who have lost a loved one. This class is free and open to the public. The class is led by Dody Morris, running through Nov. 20, and meets on Wednesdays from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the church in room 216. Topics include: living with grief, the effects of grief, loss of a child, what is heaven like?, journey of grief, loss of a spouse and suicide. There is a sign up sheet in the narthex. Trunk or Treat

  Brushy Knob Baptist Church will have their Trunk or Treat on Saturday, October 26 from 1 until 3 p.m. All are welcome. The church is located at 455 Gardner Road in Stockbridge. For more info contact Robin Sanfilippo at 404-391-1415.

 

Upward Basketball and Cheerleading

  McDonough First United Methodist Church is sponsoring Fall Upward Basketball for children ages K5 – 8th Grade.  You can register Online at http://registration.upward.org/UPW53213. Please register early as the deadline is Saturday, October 26. The registration cost per child for basketball or cheerleading is $80 which includes shorts for basketball or mock turtlenecks for cheerleading. Discounts are available for families with multiple children. The church is located at 151 Macon Street in McDonough.

 

Fall Festival and Kids Costume Contest

  On Saturday, October 26 from 3 until 6 p.m. Southern Belle Farm will host a Fall Festival and Kids costume Contest. Come enjoy family-friendly entertainment, face painting by a clown and costume contests, fun and fall festival games. Costume contests will be divided into age groups. The Kids Costume Contest will be at 4:30 p.m. followed by the Adults Costume Contest at 5:30 p.m. (Family friendly costumes, please. Cub Scouts

  Faith Baptist Church, located at 346 Highway 138 E. (Corner of Highway 138 and Millers Mill Road) in Stockbridge, is now sponsoring Cub Scout Pack 346.  This Cub Scout Pack is open to boys in Grades 1 - 5 and meets each Tuesday at 7 p.m. For more information, contact Ray or Bobbie Scott at 678-644-5055.

 

Cotton Indian Gem & Mineral Society meeting

Toastmasters meeting

 If you have a fear of public speaking or would simply like to become a better speaker, Henry County Toastmasters can help. The group meets on the first and third Thursdays of each month from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Henry Medical Center Education Building (in the Boardroom), 1133 Eagles Landing Parkway, Stockbridge.
