Brenda Gail Lee

  Brenda Gail Lee, age 55 of Stockbridge, Georgia passed away October 17, 2013. She was born in Griffin, Georgia to J.C. and Alma Holmes Huffman.  Brenda was a homemaker and enjoyed watching television. She was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Ernest Huffman.

  Survivors include her husband of 38 years, Martin Lee of Stockbridge; children, Margie (Bryan) Coleman, Mary Vining, Brian (Libby) Lee all of Covington; grandchildren, Leah, Katie and Brianna Coleman, Christopher Butler, Destiny and Nickolas Vining and Isabella Lee; parents, J.C. and Alma Huffman of McDonough; sisters, Geraldine (Allen) Clotfelter of McDonough, Effie Patterson of Forest Park; sister-in-law, JoAnne Huffman of Juliette; several nieces and nephews.

Sandra Sue Minton

  Sandra Sue Minton, age 70 of Stockbridge, Georgia passed away October 22, 2013. She was born in Maryville, Tennessee to the late Art and Sue Walker Culver. She and her husband were married on November 25, 1960 at the Avondale Church of God in Avondale, Georgia. She was a CPA for 25 years and volunteered in the food service line at Morrow Junior High School. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Miranda Minton Hiott on May 29, 2008 and by a sister, Nancy Livingston.

  Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Charles Minton, Sr. of Stockbridge; children, Charles Minton, Jr. of Stockbridge, Sandra Minton Dutt of Conyers, Michael (Julie) Minton of Gatlinburg, TN, Kevin (Nikeya) Minton of Stockbridge; 6 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; sister, Jean Dunn of Villa Rica; several nieces and two nephews.

  Memorial services were held October 25 from the Chapel of Haisten Funeral Home. Pastor Dave Riley officiated. Randel Newberry

  Randel Newberry, age 78, of McDonough, GA died October 27, 2013. He was born in McCaysville to the late Ernest and Bessie Davenport Newberry.

  Randel is survived by his wife: Shirley Newberry, McDonough; children: Carol  Hendry, Randel Newberry, Jr. and Sharon  Provau; sister: Annie White; grandchildren: Michelle Provau, Sara Hendry, Andrew Newberry and Justin Hunter.

  Graveside services were held October 29 at Georgia National Cemetery with Ed Galbreath officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Marie Bledsoe Holland

  Mrs. Marie Bledsoe Holland, age 86, of Jackson, GA passed away October 25, 2013. Marie was born in Henry County, the daughter of the late Lena Nail and Pettis Bledsoe.

  Marie was a devoted homemaker who enjoyed spending time with family and friends, gardening, fishing, cooking and needle work. She was a member of Jackson United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kimberly Holland.  

  Survivors are husband of 69 years and her childhood sweet heart since they were in the second grade, Francis Holland of Jackson; children, Peggy (Paul) Rice of Griffin, Johnny (Marsha) Holland of Jackson, Don (Wanda) Holland of Macon; grandchildren, John D. (Anna) Holland of Forsyth, Amy (Dave) Fountain of Jackson, Clay (Jeannie) Agnew of Macon, Tommy (Cumbie) Holland of McDonough and Becky (John) Harrington of Walnut Creek, CA; 11 great grandchildren; siblings, Betty Jo Goodman of McDonough, Frances (Richard) Up-church of McDonough, Rev. Howard Eulee (Marilyn) Bledsoe of Gainesville; numerous nieces and nephews.

James Lee Mullins

James Lee Mullins, age 74, of McDonough, Georgia, died October 27, 2013. He was born in Phoenix City, Alabama, on April 16, 1939, to Edgar L. and Helen Holcombe Mullins and spent most of his growing up years in Buchanan, GA. After high school, he left Buchanan for 4 years in the Air Force, 3 of those in France, and then joined the Atlanta Police Department in 1960.  His time with the APD spanned the Civil Rights movement and his many assignments included Assistant Chief of Police, Commander of the Communications Division responsible for implementing the first advanced 911 system, and he retired in 1991 as a Major commanding the downtown  Zone 5.  In his second career, he served for 12 years as the Director of Legal Services for the Southern States Police Benevolence Association. He attended John Marshall Law School, and was a graduate of The Southern Police Institute at the University of Louisville, and of the Senior Management Institute of Police affiliated with Harvard and Columbia Universities.  He enjoyed spending time away from work with his family, camping, horseback riding, traveling, and serving in his local church. For 30 years, he was an active member of Philadelphia Baptist Church, Conyers, Georgia, where he served as a deacon.  After moving to McDonough in 2001, he and Shirley joined Henry Baptist Church where he has spent 11 years and started a menís ministry.  He was a member of The Gideonís International and enjoyed passing out Bibles to those he met along the way.  Jim was a prayerful man of God who touched many people with joy and compassion.  His strong testimony and Godly example will long be remembered. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Barbara, and brother Michael H. Mullins. 

  He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Shirley Walker Mullins, daughter, Jami (Philip) Covone, Jonesboro; son, Patrick K. Mullins, Norfolk, VA; 2 grandchildren, Amanda Hudgins and Mark (Heather) Hudgins, both from Atlanta.

  Funeral services were held at Henry Baptist Church on October 30. Interment Georgia National Cemetery, 2025 Mount Carmel Church Lane, Canton, GA. Haley Diane Barclay

  Haley Diane Barclay, age 22 of Locust Grove, Georgia passed away October 27, 2013. She was born in Stockbridge, Georgia to Barry and Kay Barclay. Haley was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed riding motorcycles, dancing, coloring and reading. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Billy Barclay.

  Survivors include her parents, Barry and Kay Barclay; brothers, Barry James Barclay, II and Joseph Scott Barclay; grandmother, June Barclay; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; six nieces and nephews.

  A Celebration of Life for Haley will be held Friday, November 1 at 7 p.m. from the Chapel of Haisten Funeral Home. Her family and friends will officiate. Friends may visit the family one hour prior to the service. Contributions are asked to be made to Camp Braveheart at www.choa.org in memory of Haley.
