Lorayne N. Higgins

  Lorayne N. Higgins, age 74, of Fayetteville, GA died December 14, 2013. She was born in Gainesville to the late Edwin Tyrus and Marvolene Joiner Nabers. Lorayne was a member of Shallowford Presbyterian Church in Atlanta for many years and she was a teacher with the Clayton County School System for over 30 years.

  Lorayne is survived by her daughter: Lauren (Tim) Presnell, Stockbridge; grandchildren: Riley Presnell and Connor Presnell, Stockbridge and a sister. Judy Ulrich, AL.

Don Gaylon Brooks

  Mr. Don Gaylon Brooks, age 63, of Hampton, GA passed away December 15, 2013. Mr. Brooks was born in Fulton County the son of the late Thomas Jack and Blannie Christine Jones Brooks. Mr. Brooks retired from Georgia Power with 36 years of service. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, hunting and fishing.

  He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Yvonne Brooks of Hampton; son and daughter-in-law, Brandon and Kelly Brooks of McDonough; grandchildren, Hannah, Myron and Kyle; brother and sister-in-law, Randall and Ann Brooks of Sharpsburg; and two nephews.

Larry Dean Ford

  Larry Dean Ford, better known to his grandchildren as “DooDah” passed away December 15, 2013. Larry was born in Akron, OH the son of the late Frederick Osborne and Sylvia Irene Murray Ford. Larry was a member of the Restoration City Church in Hampton. He was an avid Duke basketball fan; he enjoyed cooking and spending time with family and friends. Larry always looked forward to his Friday nights having all of his grandchildren spending the night with “DooDah.” He was preceded in death by brothers, Donnie, Bill and Fred Ford.

  Larry is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Barbara Tanner Ford of McDonough; children, Katrina Springer (Edward) of Locust Grove, Matt Ford (Shannon) of Hampton and Krystal Shaw (John) of Locust Grove; grandchildren, Maggie, Molly and Martin Ford of Hampton and McKinley, Seth, Adalynn and Miles Shaw of Locust Grove; sister-in-law, Marjorie Ford of McDonough and several nieces and nephews.

George W. Barker

  Mr. George W. Barker, age 78 of Locust Grove, Georgia passed away December 17, 2013. He was born in Everett, Massachusetts to the late Harold Anderson and Hilda Rose Martin Barker. George served his country in the United States Army and was a graduate of the University of Florida, where he played football. He retired after 30 years with TCT Development and was a parishioner of St. James the Apostle Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus. George played St. Nick for many years at church and enjoyed the outdoors, snow skiing, bike riding and exercising.

  Survivors include his wife, Carolyn White Barker; sons, Brian (Jan) Barker of Andover, MA, Eric (Lucia) Barker of Marietta; grandchildren, Emily, Matt, Max and Nolan; sister, Joann Hall of Boston, MA; numerous nieces and nephews.

Josephine Payne Carswell

  Josephine Payne Carswell passed away on December 14, 2013. She was a resident of Brunswick, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Arnold Payne and Kitty Pendley Payne of Hampton.

  Josephine is survived by her son, John Lamar Carswell and his family of Jekyll Island, Georgia. Services for Josephine were held December 18 at the McDonough City Cemetery. Haisten Funerals and Cremations, 770-914-8833.
