Hazel Phillips White

Hazel Phillips White, 90, of McDonough, Georgia, died January 12, 2014. She was the daughter of the late James Zachary and May Harris Phillips. Granny, as she was known to her family, was loved by many people. She enjoyed cooking, spending time with family and friends and watching her great-grandchildren in all of their activities. She had an unwavering faith in her God and was a member of the Presbyterian Church. She was a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, Chapter 2411 and was retired from the Henry County Health Department. She was a lifelong resident of Henry County. She was preceded in death by her husband E.A. White, Jr. and their infant son Robert; six brothers and four sisters.  

  Survivors include her faithful and loving daughter and “son”, Linda White West (Michael) of McDonough; adoring grandchildren, Laura Wise (John) of McDonough, Matthew West (Macinda) of Stockbridge; treasured great-grandchildren, Jared Wise, Ellen Wise, Ethan West, and Caden West; sister-in-law Bobbie Phillips; several nieces and nephews. 

  Funeral services for Miss Hazel were held January 15 in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home, with Rev. Matt Allison officiating. Interment McDonough City Cemetery. Patricia Cheeves Wilson

  Patricia (Pat) Cheeves Wilson, 66 of Stockbridge, Georgia, beloved wife and mother went home to be with the Lord on December 26, 2013. 

  She is survived by her husband, Leon N. Wilson, Jr.; daughter, Rachelle (Rodney) Fordham; son, Bryan (Kristi) Wilson; grandchildren, Austin, Payton, Trey, Gillian, Preston and Brianna; sister, Linda (Stanley) Brown; brothers, Floyd (Sally) Cheeves and Donnie (Thelma) Cheeves; sisters-in-law, Deborah Faulkner and Donna (Donald) Woodall; brother-in-law Doug (Debbie) Wilson; nieces, Tina (Robert) Beland, Lynn (Ned) Coleman, Stephanie (Bobby) Brown, Sheri (Bobby) Hanson, Amy (Chris) Hanus, Chasity (Joe) Farro, Michelle (Daniel) Taylor, Theresa (Fernando) Alonzo and Stephanie (Andrew) Daniel; nephews, Kelvin (Kathy) Brown, Jason (Rachel) Cheeves, Tim (Brittany) Wilson and Ashley (Brandy) Cook;  great nieces, Hannah, Mattie, Sarah, Hannah, Sophie, Jessica, Meagan and Chelsea; great nephews, Clint, Christopher, Tony, Wesley, T.J., Aiden, Gavin, Milo, Jake and Tyler; and numerous cousins.

  Services were held January 11 at Jodeco Baptist Church in Stockbridge with Pastor Keith Fleming officiating. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Jodeco Baptist Church; or to Sacred Journey Hospice, Inc., 138 Peach Drive, McDonough, GA 30253. SouthCare Cremation and Funeral Society.


Lillie Elliott

  Lillie Elliott age 86 of McDonough passed away December 30, 2013. 

  She is survived by her daughter, Vicki Moore of McDonough; grandsons Michael Moore and Amanda Garner and Matt  and Candace Moore, both of McDonough; great grandson, Landon Moore of McDonough; niece, Brenda Brannon of Texas

Hazel V. Bennett Jones

  Hazel V. Bennett Jones, age 92, of McDonough, GA died December 30, 2013. She was born in Mableton to the late Gordon Walter and Emma Lenora Burks Bennett. She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Jones and daughter, Sherry Graham.

  Mrs. Jones is survived by her daughter: Brenda (Rick) Molchos, Conyers; son: Gary (Judy) Jones, Tyrone; sister:  Wilma (Roy) Ellis; 6 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

  Funeral services were held January 2 at Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors with Pastor Steve Reeves officiating.  Interment Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery. Those who wish may sign the on-line guest registry at Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors.  


George Edward Adams

  George Edward Adams, age 98 of Stockbridge, Georgia died on January 1, 2014. George was reared in Marion, Louisiana, where he, along with his ten brothers and sisters, experienced the joys and challenges of hard work on their family farm and living through the Great Depression. Following graduation from high school, he attended Louisiana State University where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. George then worked as a geophysicist for Standard Oil of New Jersey and later served in the United States Navy where he was honorably discharged as a Lieutenant in 1946. Following his four years in the Navy he worked for the Civil Aeronautics Administration and the United States Air Force. He married Mary Jacqueline Gaskins on June 10, 1951 in Atlanta, Georgia, and they were married for 62 years. In 1956 George and Jackie moved to Fort Walton Beach, Florida, where they raised their three children, and for twenty years George worked as a civil service engineer at Eglin Air Force Base, retiring in 1974 with 32 years of federal government service. After his retirement, George remained active and pursued his interests in gardening and exercise. In 1986 he and Jackie moved to Stockbridge. George is preceded in death by his parents, Joshua and Mary Adams, his sisters Marie Reese and Opal Collins, and his brothers Jim and Pat Adams.

  George is survived by his wife Jackie Adams, two daughters Janice Adams and Jeanne Cuerdon, son George Adams Jr., two granddaughters Marissa and Olivia Adams, four brothers Tom, Fred, Ben, and Don Adams, two sisters Lark Ellen Tozier and Ella B. Blair, as well as numerous other extended family members. George was known for his hard work, commitment to his family, the ability to repair almost anything, and being an avid LSU fan. During his last two years George lived courageously through the onset and progression of Alzheimer’s. At the end, George transitioned comfortably and peacefully from this life to eternal life with his family and caregivers by his side.

  George was cremated. A memorial service was held January 18 at SouthCare in Stockbridge. In lieu of flowers please make contributions to the Humane Society. SouthCare Cremation and Funeral Society.


Jacqueline Ann Kerr Little

  Mrs. Jacqueline Ann Kerr Little, age 71, of Monroe, GA formerly of Locust Grove passed away January 4, 2014. Mrs. Little was born in Atlanta, the daughter of the late John Bazley Graves and Mary Emma Long Kerr. Mrs. Little enjoyed spending time with family and friends, her pets, her church, and cooking.  She was a member of Philippi Baptist Church.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Harrison Little Sr. a son, Joey Little and a stepdaughter, Anita Brown.

  Survivors are her brother, John Kerr of Monroe; stepchildren, Joyce Jones of Loganville, Peggy Morgan of Griffin, Brenda Little of Jonesboro; 6 grandchildren and several great grandchildren; niece, Amber Bailey; and a nephew, John E. Kerr.

Yvonne Louise Siebalt Green

  Mrs. Yvonne Louise Siebalt Green, 78, of Locust Grove, GA passed away January 6, 2014.  Mrs. Green was born in Chicago, IL the daughter of the late George William and Elsie Anna Seheel Siebalt. Mrs. Green enjoyed spending time with family and friends, crafts and working with little children. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gale Francis Green and sisters, Lucille Styblo and Loraine Gaily. 

  Survivors are her daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and Jeff Elkins of Locust Grove; grandsons, Bradford and Ryan Elkins; brother, Howard and Marilyn Siebalt of Chicago and several nieces and nephews. 

  A memorial service for Mrs. Green was held January 11 at the Locust Grove United Methodist Church with Rev. Jim Buckman officiating. For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Locust Grove Methodist Youth Group.  Haisten Funeral Home, McDonough,
