Robert Glenn Herren, Sr.

  Mr. Robert Glenn Herren, Sr., age 82 of Locust Grove, Georgia died January 7, 2014.  He was born in Smyrna, Georgia to the late Calvin Van and Myrtle Brannon Herren.  Robert was preceded in death by eight siblings.  He received a law degree from Woodrow Wilson Law School; retired after over 30 years with the United States Postal Service and enjoyed NASCAR. 

  Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Betty Ward Herren; children, Glenda Johnson of Hampton, Deborah Burney of Locust Grove, Sandra Wimpey of Snellville, Jane Stovall of Lawrenceville, Robert Herren, Jr. and his wife Kathy of Covington, Ronald Herren and his wife, Nola of Sugar Hill; 16 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter and numerous nieces and nephews.

Edna Lee Morris

  Edna Lee Morris, age 66, of Locust Grove, GA died January 8, 2014.  She was born in Atlanta to the late Warner E. and Dorothy Lee Waldrop Phillips.  She was preceded in death by her sister, Debra Lucille Phillips.

  Edna is survived by her daughters: Debra (David) Ancell, and Donna Summey, both of McDonough; grandchildren: Johnathan, Joshua (Samantha), Jessica Ancell; Olivia Summey; and brother, Gene Phillips.

Edgar McDonald Taylor, Sr.

  Mr. Edgar McDonald Taylor, Sr., age 93 of McDonough, Georgia died January 9, 2014.  He was born in Griffin to the late Joel Stewart and Julia Irwin McDonald Taylor. Edgar served his country in the United States Army during WWII and was a member of the McDonough Presbyterian Church where he served as a Deacon. He operated Bartlett and Taylor Grocery on the McDonough Square for 26 years and was owner of Green Valley Golf Club and was a PGA Pro Golfer. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sara Wynn Collins Taylor. 

  Survivors include his sons, Edgar McDonald Taylor, Jr. of McDonough and Daniel Stewart Taylor of Atlanta; grandchildren, Skye Taylor of Athens, Shauna Corsaro of Lawrenceville, Dustin Taylor of Lawrenceville, Oreta Taylor of Douglasville and Daniel N. Taylor of Atlanta; great grandson, Landon Corsaro of Lawrenceville.

Margaret Hammonds Moore

  Mrs. Margaret Hammonds Moore, age 81 of Hampton, Georgia passed away January 10, 2014. She was born in Conyers to the late Mercer Ben and Velma Marie Crumbley Hammonds.  She was the wife of the late Reverend Elbert Moore. Margaret was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hampton where she was a member of the Heaven Bound Sunday School Class.  She retired after 26 years with Cotter and Company and also from Thomaston Mills after 10 years.  She enjoyed traveling, spending time with her family and was an avid reader. She was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Pam Moore and a sister, Virginia Burnhard. 

  Survivors include her children, Jerry Moore of Greenville, SC and Mary Ann (Terry “Bo”) Conkle of Hampton; grandchildren, Carol Lynn (Alyn) Abrams of Greenville, SC, Dylan, Taylor and Hunter Conkle of Hampton; great grandchildren, Celeste, Jerry Lee, Mathew and Alexandria Rose Davis all of Greenville, SC; great-great grandson, Brayden Massey of Greenville, SC; siblings, Sara (Jerry) Driskell of Hampton, James M. (Irene) Hammonds of Rutledge, Donald L. (Linda) Hammonds of Eatonton, Elton L. (Maria) Hammonds of Birmingham, AL; sister-in-law, Frances Nichols of Griffin; numerous nieces and nephews.

Herman A. Townsend

  Herman  A. Townsend, age 89, of Stockbridge, GA died January 11, 2014. He was born in Conyers to the late Paul L. and Laura McCart Townsend. He was preceded in death by his siblings: Rosie Nell Johnson, Earlene Bray, Edna Smith, Carl Townsend, Lewis Townsend, Cleo Townsend and Charlie Townsend.

  Herman is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

James H. McClure

  James H. McClure, age 89, of Stockbridge, GA died January 11, 2014. He was born in Atlanta to the late Elbert Dean and Lemma Beatrice Pickens McClure. James was a member of Stockbridge First United Meth-odist Church. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy.

  Mr. McClure is survived by his wife of 65 years, Lula McClure; children, Sharon Kirkpatrick and James McClure, Jr.; grandchildren, Lisa Kirkpatrick, Aaron Kirkpatrick, Brien McClure and Elizabeth McClure; grandson-in-law, Jantson Haney; brother, Mr. and Mrs. R.L. McClure.

Randy Holmes

  Mr. Randy Holmes, age 62 of McDonough, Georgia passed away January 11, 2014.  He was born in Locust Grove, Georgia to the late K.C. and Mildred Omajean Beach Holmes. He was a member of County Line Congregational Christian Church and was retired from Clayton County Transportation and Development. He was a member and Past President of the Metro Heights Bass Club and enjoyed fishing, singing, playing his guitar and working on old cars. He was preceded in death by his stepmother, Doris Holmes and by Carse Holmes Sr. and his wife Ethel who raised Randy after the death of his parents. 

  Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Vicki White Holmes; children, Amy Michelle (Derrick) Jordan of Jackson, Joshua John Holmes of McDonough; grandchildren, Nicholas Zorda Holmes, Brittany Lee Webb, Katie Lee Webb, Pyper Lee Jordan and Savanna Leigh Jordan; siblings, Tommy (Edith) Holmes, Kenneth (Shirley) Holmes, Betty (Ray) Taylor, Carse Holmes, Raymond (Virginia) Holmes, Travis (Sheena) Holmes, Shirley Taylor, Cathy Doran and Thomas Holmes; numerous nieces and nephews.  

  Funeral services were held January 14 from the Chapel of Haisten Funeral Home. Pastor Archie Pennington officiated. Interment County Line Congregational Christian Church Cemetery.
