Miss Henry County Forestry Pageant

  The Miss Henry County Forestry Pageant will be held February 22 at noon at Strong Rock Christian School. It is for ages 0 - 24. The deadline to enter is February 14. For info email paigelowry8@gmail.com.  

 

African American Heritage Program rescheduled for March 1

  Stockbridge Mayor Pro Tem, Alphonso Thomas and the Stockbridge Civic Association are proud to present the 3rd Annual African American Heritage Program. The program will highlight notable contributions of African-Americans to American culture and history and will feature local students and members of the community. The event has been rescheduled  (due to inclement weather) for March 1 at 4 p.m. at historic Smith-Barnes Elementary School located at 147 Tye Street Stockbridge in. Admission is free.

 

Genealogy Foundations Classes

  The Genealogical Societies of Henry and Clayton County continues their series of Genealogy Foundations Classes on Friday, February 21 from 10 a.m. until noon. The class will be on documenting your family history with Dorothy Tuck. On February 28 from 10 a.m. until noon the class will cover Census, Military Records and Specialty Collections. Henry Singers

  The Henry Singers have begun practice for their May concert with music from Broadway and movies. It isn’t too late to join them, however.  Practice is every Thursday night at 7:30 in the choir room of the McDonough Presbyterian Church on McGarity Road in McDonough. No audition is necessary. If you enjoy singing for the sheer joy of it, come join the group under the direction of Marion Williams.

 

Griefshare

  GriefShare at Bethany Baptist Church is a support group ministry that meets several times during the year to help those who have lost loved ones in death. Grief Share is a Bible based seminar led by people who understand the pain of losing someone and want to help you through the healing process.  Please check out www.griefshare.org/ and then contact the church at 770-957-4455 if you would like more information or if you are interested in joining their next seminar. The church is located at 4 North Bethany Road in McDonough. Henry Baptist Church also has a GriefShare group that currently meets on Sunday from 3 - 5 p.m. in room W-206. Mystery Dinner Theatre

  Bethel UMC will present “Her Lips Are Sealed” (produced by special arrangement with Contemporary Drama Series), March 8 at 6 p.m. Join them for a fun “whodunnit” Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre play. They will have great food and lots of surprises. Limited seating, reservations required by Feb 23. Alzheimer’s Support Group

  Laurel Park Nursing and Rehab has partnered with Dogwood Forest Assisted Living to hold an Alzheimer’s Support Group.  The group will hold it’s first meeting on Tuesday March 11 at 6:30 p.m. at Laurel Park.  They are located at 1050 Hospital Drive in Stockbridge.   St James The Apostle Catholic Church Music Ministry is now in rehearsal for their Spring Sacred Music Concert. They will perform the Haydn Missa Brevis in B Flat Major (The Little Organ Mass) as well as five selections from the Easter portion of Handel’s Messiah.  Rehearsals are Thursdays from 7 until 9 p.m. This event is open to anyone who loves to sing.  Music and rehearsal cd’s will be furnished. They will be accompanied by a string quartet. The concert date is May 10. The church is located at 1000 GA Highway 155 N. in McDonough.
