Rachel Hudson Smith

  Mrs. Rachel Hudson Smith, age 84 of Stockbridge, Georgia passed away February 19, 2014.  She was born in Alamogordo, New Mexico to the late Steve and Elizabeth Walls Hudson. After the death of her father, Rachel and her mother returned to Hiawassee, Georgia. Rachel graduated from Towns County High School and worked for over 40 years with Western Union.  She was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church in Hampton. She volunteered at the church, was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sheila Smith Turner and a brother, Carl Spiva, Jr. 

  Survivors include her son, Roy (Sherry) Smith of Hampton; grandchildren, Rachelle Gilbert and Mark (Lisa) Smith; great grandchildren, Jackson Smith, William Overby, Richard Scott II and Dalton Scott; great-great granddaughter, Emylee Overby; siblings, Barbara Spiva of Decatur, Arthur (Virginia) Spiva of Doraville, Mary (Ernest) Arrowood of South Carolina and Ann Wilson of Hiawassee.

Marjorie Roebuck McLeod

  Mrs. Marjorie Roebuck “Margie” McLeod, age 82 of Hampton, Georgia died February 20, 2014. She was born in Americus, Georgia to the late Albert Durham and Odice Virginia Raybun Roebuck. Margie was very active in church and enjoyed singing, whistling, sewing and working jig saw puzzles and word searches. She was preceded in death by a son, Ken McLeod and by siblings, Ruth Sims, Elton Roebuck and Bubba Roebuck.

  Survivors include her children, Jackie (Jimmy) Corbin, Charles McLeod, Marion (Debra) McLeod, Phyllis White and Michael McLeod; grandchildren, Janet English, Jennifer Ralston, Dennis McLeod, Laura Sewell, Matthew McLeod, Asa White, Amber Berry, April Ramsey, Mandy McLeod, Jamie McLeod, Curt Hammett, Kenneth McLeod, Christopher McLeod and Grace McLeod; great grandchildren, Torey Khan, Megan Ralston, Corbin Ralston, Austin Sewell, Parker Sewell, Brady Sewell, Jimmy Vega White, Zachary Ramsey, Colbie Ramsey, Alexis Collins, Alyssa McLeod, Jakob McLeod, Malaki McLeod, Jaidyn Hammett and Carston Hammett; great-great grandson, Jaxon Khan; sisters, Harriett Elliott and Doris Lowery; several nieces and nephews.

Irma Hendrix

  Mrs. Irma Hendrix, age 63 of Stockbridge, Georgia passed away February 22, 2014. She was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey to the late Charles and Illa Martens Siedelhofer. Irma made a career in education, most recently employed with the Rockdale County Board of Education.  She enjoyed motorcycles, crafts and was creative and artistic. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Maurice Hendrix.   

  Survivors include her children, Scott Charles O’Brian of Vista, CA, Kelly Hendrix of Savannah, Leroy Harley (Shannon) Hendrix of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Matthew Dane (Haleigh Icks) O’Brian, Cole Gentner, Olivia Gentner, A.J. Graham, Harly Jo Hendrix and Chelsie Garcia; brother, Scott (Elaina) Andrews of Poway, CA; aunts, Sister Mary Henkemeier and Sister Pat Gibbons, both of New Jersey; life partner and best friend, Bill Harp of Stockbridge.

Mary Lee Dean

  Mary Lee Dean, age 78, of Stockbridge, GA died February 23, 2014. Mrs. Dean was a long time member of Peachtree Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Lucinda Stultz.

  Mrs. Dean is survived by her loving daughters, Deborah Smith and Sandra Parker; grandchildren, Rodney Heaton, Todd Miller, Angela Mack, Jason Zupke, Nicole McKiernan, James McKiernan, Christa Watson, Julianna Guenther, Daniel McKiernan; 16 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren.

  Funeral services were held February 27 at Horis A. Ward Fairview Chapel. Interment Forest Hills Memorial Park.

 

David Chandler

  David “Bart” Chandler, age 55, of Hampton, GA died February 24, 2014. He was born in Atlanta to the late William Amos and Helen Louise Chandler.

  Bart is survived by his wife: Cecilia, Hampton; sons: Adam (Jenny Lee) Chandler, Blairsville; Daniel Monroe Chandler, Hampton; grandsons: Wyatt, Colton,  Troy; siblings: Barry Chandler, Springfield; Barbara Chandler, McDonough; Ben Chandler, McDonough; Brad Chandler, Locust Grove; Belinda Latham, Stockbridge; Brent Chandler, McDonough; plus many nieces, nephews, and loved ones.

  Services were held February 27 at Hampton United Methodist Church with Rev. Brent White officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hampton United Methodist Church, 10 W. Helen Chandler Crowell

  Mrs. Helen Chandler Crowell, age 80, of McDonough, GA died February 25, 2014. Mrs. Crowell was born in Sharpsburg, the daughter of the late Thomas Raymond and Annie Ruth Chapman Chandler. Mrs. Crowell was a faithful member of Philadelphia United Methodist Church.  She enjoyed spending time with her friends and family, loving her grandchildren and cooking. She was preceded in death by her husband, Simon Roscoe Crowell, Jr. and a brother, Chester Eugene Chandler. 

  Survivors are her children, Darlene Tuggle (Alan), Don Crowell (Sharon), Jimmy Crowell (Freddie) and Fonty Crowell (Teresa) all of McDonough; 8 loving grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; sister, Shirley Baker (Vance) of Fayetteville; brother, Buford Chandler (June) of Fayetteville; several nieces and nephews.
