John Anthony Madoni

  John Anthony Madoni, age 66, of Hampton, GA died March 8, 2014. He was born in Oaklawn, IL to the late Celeste E. and Hazel Mae Eaton Madoni. He was a member of First Baptist Jonesboro.

  John is survived by his wife of 42 years, Brenda Madoni; children: Jeanetta Grant (Kurtis), Roswell; Erica Madoni (Candice Jones), Griffin; grandchildren:  Kim Harmon, Colton Harmon; siblings: Ed Madoni (Johnna), Carthage, MO; Paul Madoni (Mary), Atwood, IL and Elaine Delk, Republic, MO.

  Services were March 13 at the Chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors with Rev. Rick Sexton officiating. Interment Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. Those who wish may sign the on-line guest registry at Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors.


William Robert Stanton

  Mr. William Robert “Bob” Stanton, age 67, of Senoia formerly of McDonough, GA passed away March 8, 2014.  Bob was born in Atlanta the son of the late William Paul and Minnie Harper Stanton.  He was a graduate of Henry County High School Class of 1964, graduated from Georgia State with a BS degree, and spent most of his working career with J. C. Penney Company.  Bob was a member of Senoia United Methodist Church.  He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, most all sports, The Braves and being an avid Bulldog Fan, fishing, traveling and yard work.

   Survivors are his wife of 44 years, Carolyn Sams Stanton of Senoia; son and daughter-in-law, Marc and Jennifer Stanton of Palm Coast, Florida; grandchildren, Hailey and Courtney Stanton; brother, Tom Stanton of Flowery Branch; sister and brother-in-law, Paulette and Glenn Smith of Stockbridge; several nieces, nephews and cousins. 

 Services were held March 11 at Senoia United Methodist Church with Rev. Viola Tilson Dobbs

   Mrs. Viola Tilson Dobbs, age 90, of McDonough, GA passed away March 9, 2014.  Mrs. Dobbs was born in Calhoun, Georgia, the daughter of the late Joseph Harris Tilson and Stella Mae Tilson. Mrs. Dobbs enjoyed spending time with family and friends, cooking, sewing and fishing. She was preceded in death by her husband, Grady Emory Dobbs, Sr.; sons, Grady E. Dobbs, Jr.; daughter, Mildred Middlebrooks; and several siblings.

   Survivors are her children, Patricia Rutledge of Cumming, Barbara Moon of McDonough and Curtis Wayne Dobbs of Rome; 11 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Smith of Smyrna and several nieces and nephews.

Josephine K Jones

   Mrs. Josephine K Jones, 87, of McDonough, GA passed away March 12, 2014. A native of Pennsylvania, Mrs. Jones spent most of her life in New Jersey before moving to Georgia in 1995.  She was retired from Blue Cross Blue Shield and AT&T.  She loved her cats and enjoyed reading and playing solitaire; but most of all, she loved her friends and the staff at Heritage Senior Center. She was preceded in death by her husband, John R. Jones. 

  She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Margaret and Chuck Wall of McDonough; daughter, Barbara Hipps of Memphis; 3 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

Gwendolyn McCarter Dial

   Mrs. Gwendolyn McCarter Dial, age 81, of Locust Grove, GA passed away March 16, 2014.  Gwen was born in Locust Grove, the daughter of the late Herschel Alexander and Estelle Chasteen McCarter. Gwen was a faithful member of the Locust Grove United Methodist Church for 70 years where she enjoyed serving. She was the Locust Grove Post Master for 30 plus years and known for her loving smile and willingness to serve the community.  Gwen, better known to her family and close friends as “Muh,” enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dean Dial, and brother, Charles McCarter.

    Survivors are her children, Carol and Ross McQueen, and Dennis and Kathy Combs of Locust Grove, stepdaughter, Mary Ann Dial of Covington; grandchildren, Julie and Greg Fowler of Griffin, Michael and Nicole Elkins of McDonough, Tara and Zeb Brown, Tiffany and Josh Barden and Mary Ann and Jeff Moss of Locust Grove; great grandchildren, Seth, Abbie, Macie, Amelia, Carter, Bennett and Baby Gwen; sister and brother-in-law, Edna Earl and Jack Long of Jackson; sister-in-law, Elsie McCarter of Locust Grove.  

   Services were held March 18 at the Locust Grove United Methodist Church with Rev. Jim Buckman and Rev. Joey Seabolt officiating. Interment Locust Grove Cemetery. James A. Montgomery

  Mr. James A. Montgomery, age 92 of Locust Grove, Georgia passed away March 17, 2014.  He was born in Boonville, Indiana to the late James A. and Bertha O. Calvert Montgomery.    He faithfully served his country in the United States Navy during WWII and the Korean War.  Mr. Jim was a member of the First Baptist Church of Locust Grove and was a meat cutter his entire life. He loved people and enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jessie Lee Cox Montgomery in 2006.

  Survivors include his daughters, Kay Atkinson of Locust Grove and Gloria (Jimmy) Lee of Concord; grandchildren, Mike Lester of Canton, Jim Lester of Atlanta, Melissa (Joe) Elliott of McDonough, Jennifer (Chris) Waddell of Abernant, AL; great grandchildren, Brandy Hudgins, Cody Elliott, Caleb Waddell, Rachel Waddell and Hannah Waddell; brother, Robert (Joan) Montgomery of Portland, OR. 

  Services were held March 24 from the Chapel of Haisten Funeral Home.  Rev. Craig Bowers and Rev. Sandra Jerrell Maynard Donegan

   Mrs. Sandra Jerrell Maynard Donegan, age 69 of Stockbridge, Georgia passed away March 18, 2014. Sandy was born in Brunswick, Georgia to the late Rexford Stanley and Bernice Jerrell Lewis Maynard. Sandy retired after 30 years with Morrison’s Cafeteria and had been employed for 15 years with Trade Masters.  She attended the Church In The Now and enjoyed spending time with her great grandbabies, watching the Atlanta Braves, the Western Channel and Twilight movies. She was preceded in death by her husband, Toby “Butch” Donegan and by siblings, Frank Maynard, Robert Maynard and Wanda Mallard. 

  Survivors include her children, Debbie (Michael Harvill) Cheek of Stockbridge, Linda (William) Cox of McDonough, Stanley (Britni) Donegan of Murrieta, CA; grandchildren, Daniel Cheek, Zachary Cheek, Cody Cheek, John Cox, Jordan Cox, Brendon Donegan, Faith Donegan, Katlynne Donegan and Sophia Donegan; great grandbabies, Zoey and Jenna; siblings, Toby (Arturo) Alvarez of Fayettville, Paul (Betty Strickland) Maynard of Rex, Tressa (Jim) Stepp of Ellijay, Mary (Rennie) Flores of Monroe, Shirley (Larry) Delacruz of Brunswick, Ruth Walters of Winder, Helen (Jeff) Copeland of Stockbridge; numerous nieces and nephews.

Annie Ruth Nail Brannan

  Mrs. Annie Ruth Nail Brannan, age 94, died March 20, 2014.  She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmama, great grandmama and great-great grandmama. She was born in Henry County, Georgia to the late Jonah and Maggie Maybelle Nail. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Brannan, a son, Jerry Brannan and eleven siblings.  Ruth was a member of Flippen UMC. 

  Survivors include her children, Charles (Louise) Brannan, Beth (Charles) Mays, Miriam (Mike) Bobo, Dwayne (Tracie) Brannan; a special brother-in-law, TS Brannan; eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
