Frances Ferrell Hill

  Mrs. Frances Ferrell Hill, age 96, of McDonough, Georgia   died November 22, 2008.  She was born in LaGrange, Georgia to the late John Henry and Louetta Howell Ferrell. Frances was a member of the First Baptist Church of McDonough; enjoyed traveling, cooking, and working in her yard. She was preceded in death by a son, Robert Hill and her husband, Robert L. Hill.

  Survivors include her children, Ronald Hill, Richard Hill, and Janet Williams; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; sister, Alice Verlander; brother, Jack Ferrell.

Frances Jones Craig

  Mrs. Frances “Eadye” Jones Craig, age 75, of McDonough, Georgia died December 8, 2008. Eadye was born in Cochran, the daughter of the late Frances Davis McNeal and Arthur Marvin Jones. Eadye was known for her love of life, outgoing personality, dancing, she was an avid reader, enjoyed playing bingo, and traveling by car. She was a member of Philadelphia United Methodist Church where she served in all areas of the church. Her husband, Pummie Dorman Craig; brother, Albert “Bubba” Jones; and sister, Sara Pitts preceded her in death.

  Survivors include her children, Anthony “Tony” Craig and Eadye Christensen, both of McDonough; and the light of her life was her grandson, Anthony Mayo of McDonough; sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Butch Nixon of McDonough; sisters-in-law, Nancy Jones of Jackson and Myrna and Ernest Sowell of McDonough; brother-in-law, Gene and Betty Craig of McDonough; several nieces and nephews.

  Services were held December 11 in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Boggs and Dr. Charles Thomas officiating.  Interment   Philadelphia United Methodist Church Cemetery. Richard C. Alexander

  Mr. Richard C. Alexander, age 61, of McDonough, Georgia died December 9, 2008. He was born in Atlanta.

  Survivors include his wife, Diane Marie Mathis of McDonough; children, Amanda Diane Lowry of Hampton, Richard Todd Alexander of Griffin, Rocky Lee Jones and April Darlene Mathis, both of McDonough; grandchildren, Lucas, Cody and Maryanna; and sister, Judy Wood of  Fayetteville.

Margaret "Peggy" Correll

  Mrs. Margaret "Peggy" Correll, age 65, of McDonough, Georgia died December 9, 2008.  She was born in New York, New York to the late Arthur and Margaret DeWaters.  Mrs. Correll was a member of Peoples Baptist Church and Academy.  She graduated from nursing school as a Neonatal Nurse and worked with infants for many years and was also employed as a postal clerk in Staten Island, New York. Mr. and Mrs. Correll sold their life-long home in Staten Island to retire and live close to their family in McDonough where they found the Lord Jesus Christ and accepted Him as their personal Savior. She loved ceramics, arts, crafts and gardening. Most important she was a devoted mother, wife, and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" Correll.

  Survivors include her children, Eddie (Donna) Correll of McDonough and Patricia (Shawn) Dunphy of East Brunswick, New Jersey; grandchildren, Nicholas, Ryan, Shawn Patrick, Billy, Jesse, Katelynn and Krista; and sister, Barbara Matthews of Mary-land.

Billy Gordon Shepherd

  Mr. Billy Gordon Shepherd, age 70, of McDonough, Georgia died December 9, 2008. Mr. Shepherd was born in Roanoke, Alabama, the son of the late Laura Harcourt and Earl Thompson. Mr. Shepherd served his country in the U.S. Army; he enjoyed NASCAR, college football, his cat and his granddogs. He was preceded in death by a brother, Leon Thompson.

  Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Cooley Shepherd of McDonough; daughters, Jenny Shepherd Guider (Glen) of Lake Spivey, Lynne Shepherd Greenwood (Tod) of Deerfield Beach, Florida; sisters, Jerrie Watson of Newnan, and Hazel Preast of LaGrange; mother-in-law, Helen McClain Cooley of LaGrange, nieces, nephews and  granddogs.

Jerry Paul Sowell

  Mr. Jerry Paul Sowell, age 68, of McDonough, Georgia died December 10, 2008. He was born in San Augustine, Texas to the late Odis Ray and Vera Lee Fonville Sowell.  He was a retired Army veteran and served during Vietnam. Mr. Sowell was also preceded in death by his son, Mike Sowell and sister, Mary Jane Rogers.

  Survivors include his wife, Erika Ruth Sowell of  McDonough; daughter, Yvonne (Darian) Sowell-Odom of  McDonough; siblings, Venice Helen (Otis Thomas) Merritt Swanson of Highland, Texas, C.B. (Terry Ruth) Sowell of  Jasper, Texas, Sharol (Ronnie) Darlene Simmons of Houston, Texas, Ruth Laverne Sowell of  Lufkin, Texas; daughter-in-law, Becki Sowell of Hampton; grandchildren, Cole Odom, Josh Odom, and Justin Collier.

John L. Williams

  Mr. John L. Williams, age 74, of McDonough, Georgia died December 11, 2008. He was born in Carrollton to the late Dewell Copeland and Elizabeth Brown Moore Williams. Mr. Williams was an active member of Bible Baptist Church and had previously served with other congregations as a bus captain. He was responsible for getting hundreds of children to church. In earlier years he enjoyed outdoor activities such as hiking, fishing, hunting, camping and sports. Most of all he was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his sister, Beverly W. Seiz.

  Survivors include his wife, Darlene Williams of  McDonough; children, Lisa Rainey of  Loudon, Tennessee, Cyndi Singh of Hayesville, North Carolina, Jane W. Smith of  Bogart, John Williams, Jr. of Newnan, Larry Gilbert of Crofton, Maryland, Ted Gilbert of Griffin; 13 grandchildren.

Martha Joy Powell

  Mrs. Martha Joy Powell, age 75, of Stockbridge, Georgia died December 12, 2008.  She was born in Atlanta to Clarence and Mary Lou Griffith. She enjoyed camping, bowling, and bingo. Most important to her was her family.

  Survivors include her children, David Powell, Jesse Dean Powell, Michael Powell, and Wanda Dodd, all of Stockbridge; sister, Leila Wiley of Roopville; four grandchildren.

Donald Richard Vickery

  Mr. Donald Richard Vickery, age 64, of Hampton, Georgia, passed away Friday, December 12, 2008. Mr. Vickery was born in Meriwether County on July 2, 1944 to the late Jimmie Loyd Vickery and the late Alma Jewell Hubbard Vickery. Mr. Vickery was a member of the Hampton First Baptist Church, belonged to Carpenter's Local Union # 225 since 1964 and retired from Malone Construction. While living in Riverdale, he was a member of the Riverdale Jaycee’s. He was an avid NASCAR fan. He was preceded in death by a son, Douglas Richard Vickery, sister, Wanda Youmans and brother, Owen Vickery.

  Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Nancy G. Vickery of Hampton; daughters and sons-in-law, Tina and Johnny Classen of Hampton, Lynda Gail and John Fine of Meansville, Lisa Dixon of McDonough, Connie and John Faulk of McDonough, Nikki and Chris Stacy of McDonough; grandchildren and their spouses, Jason and Misty Classen, Curtis and Brittany Classen, Cory and Jeanette Classen, Douglas and Tiffany Dixon, Haley Faulk, Brandi Fine, Cody Fine, Christopher Dixon, Joshua Faulk, Abbey Stacy, Raegan Stacy, Kirsten Stacy; mother-in-law, Cornie Gibson of Woodbury; sisters-in-law, Linda Cartwright, Peggy Jordan; brother-in-law, BoBo Gibson; son-in-law, Sean Dixon; several nieces and nephews.

Noreen Marie Donovan Caraway

  Mrs. Noreen Marie Donovan Caraway, age 66, of Stockbridge, Georgia died December 13, 2008.  Mrs. Caraway was born in Cheboygan, Michigan, the daughter of the late Ethel Angela Chimner and Alfred Timothy Donovan. Mrs. Caraway was a member of St. James Catholic Church in McDonough, she was known for her generous spirit, she was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, and a great cook. She was preceded in death by several brothers and a son, Patrick Dean Swank.

  Survivors include sons and daughter-in-laws, David Swank (Lynn) of Stockbridge, Harry Caraway Jr. (Kelli) of Locust Grove; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; sisters, Pat Ozybko, Edith Blust, Jean Pavlik, Grace Rowley and Mary Donovan all of Michigan; numerous nieces and nephews.

Susan Crowley Mason

  Mrs. Susan Crowley Mason, age 58, of Hampton, Georgia died December 14, 2008. She was born in Atlanta to Dorothy Ann Moore Crowley and the late Thomas Jackson Crowley.  She graduated from Therrell High School in 1968; was a member of Berea Christian Church and had been employed with Walmart, B.J.’s Club, and Ryan’s Steakhouse. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Perry Mason.

  Survivors include her mother, Ann M. Crowley of Hampton; sister, Sheri C. (Russell) Teet of Tyrone; nephew, Joseph Teet.

Eugene Bryant

  Mr. Eugene Bryant, age 68, of Hampton, died December 1, 2008.  Mr. Bryant was the owner and CEO of G & R Towing of Hampton – “We pick you up when you’re down.”  He was also an avid motorcyclist. 

  Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Rose Bryant; sons, Danny Bryant, Sr. and Tammy of Hampton, Terrell Eugene Bryant and Esther of Hampton, Tracy Bryant and Danyiel of Kenwood, Louisiana; grandchildren, Danny Bryant, Jr., Dusty Bryant, Julie Bryant, Candy Bryant, Lacy Bryant, Samuel Bryant, Ashley Bryant, Krissy Bryant, Alex Bryant, Tommy Bryant, Amanda Bryant, Keller Bryant, Kelsey Bryant; great grandchild, Avery Bryant; sister, Betty Shelton; brothers, Bobby Bryant, Gene Edward Bryant and Jeff Bryant; and his loyal dog, “Baby Girl”.

Brian J. Mulvaney

  Mr. Brian J. Mulvaney, age 52, of Locust Grove, Georgia died December 2, 2008. He was born in Syracuse, New York. Mr. Mulvaney was a member of McDonough First United Methodist Church and was highly respected in the community and at his work.  He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and son. 

  Mr. Mulvaney is survived by his wife, Constance Mulvaney of Locust Grove, sons, Sean Mulvaney of McDonough, and Matthew Mulvaney of Locust Grove; granddaughter, Harper Marie Mulvaney of McDonough; parents, Wilbur M. and Marie Wallace Mulvaney; sister, Beverly Davidson of Richmond, Virginia; brother, Barry Mulvaney of Midlothian, Virginia; numerous family members, nieces, nephews and friends.

Charles Dudley

  Mr. Charles Dudley, age 72, of McDonough, Georgia died De-cember 4, 2008. He was born in Paulding County on April 6, 1936.  Mr. Dudley was a member of the

First Baptist of Forest Park. He retired from the USPS in College Park with 32 years of service.

Virginia Davis

  Mrs. Virginia Davis, age 86, of McDonough, Georgia died December 6, 2008. She was born in Springfield, Massachusetts to the late Charles A. Stephens and Miriam B. Stephens.  Mrs. Davis graduated from Bradford College in Massachusetts. She enjoyed pleasure riding on her Paso Fino horses, loved golf, oil painting, playing bridge and watching the Braves. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Henry Davis.

  Survivors include her daughter, Christine (Ron L.) Bass; son, William C. Davis, both of Stockbridge; grandsons, Jeffrey R. (Sharon) Cash, Jason H. (Kristy) Cash; great grandchildren, Virginia, Brandon, Courtney, Hunter, and Ava; and sister, Barbara (Lew) Erwin.

Roger Carl Oakes

  Mr. Roger Carl Oakes, age 57, of Stockbridge, Georiga died Decem-ber 7, 2008.  He was born in Rocky Mt., Virginia. He was a member of First Christian Church in Stockbridge. He worked for Rich's/Macy's for 38 years. He loved fishing, Nascar, football, basketball, and traveling. But most important to him was his family and his church. He was preceded in death by his mother, Catherine Bowles Oakes and brother, Jerry Oakes. 

  Survivors include his wife, Vickie Dianne Oakes of Stockbridge; son, Jason Carl Oakes of Stockbridge; daughter, Rachel Denise Worthan of Marietta; grandchildren, Emily Nicole Payne and Dylan Chase Payne; father, Jack Oakes of Ruffin, North Carolina; siblings, John Oakes, William Oakes, Tim Oakes, Rita Adkins, Rosie Cohran, June Williams; several nieces and nephews.

  Mrs. Mary McDaniel, age 82, of McDonough died December 7, 2008. She was born in Detroit, Michigan to the late William and Pauline Cartae Vincoli. She was a member of Valley Hill Baptist Church and enjoyed playing the piano, arts, crafts and bingo. She was preceded in death by sisters, Helen Keffer, Jennie Guidry; brothers, James and Vincent Vincoli and a grandson, Brandon Dennis Partain.

  Survivors include children, Dianne Miller of McDonough, Marcus Harrison of Stockbridge, Brenda (Dennis) Partain of McDonough; grandchildren, Kim Miller of Marietta, Lisa (Kevin) Kersey of McDonough, Steven (Lori) Miller of McDonough, Christopher (Jennifer) Harrison of Stockbridge, Brittany Shay Harrison of Stockbridge, Heather Partain of Locust Grove; great grandchildren, Kyle, Cameron, Kadin, Kylie, Brayden and Lilly; brother, Frank Vincoli of Douglasville.

  Mrs. Lorraine Olga Shaffer, age 65, of Locust Grove, Georgia died December 7, 2008. She was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late Fredrick and Olga Devuono Fortunato. She was a member of the Pentecostal church and enjoyed catalog shopping.

  Survivors include her husband of 32 years, Robert C. Shaffer, Sr. of Locust Grove; children, Dawn Leary of Broward County, Florida, Bob Shaffer, Jr. of Carson City, Nevada; grandchildren, Christine and Frank Leary; brother, Joseph Fortunato of Boca Raton, Florida.

 Martha Etoil Nelson

   Mrs. Martha Etoil Nelson, age 81, of McDonough, Georgia died Sunday, November 23, 2008. She was born in Detroit, Alabama to the late Walter Jackson and Clara Anne Latham Rye. Ms. Nelson was a member of New Covenant Church of God where she was a Sunday School teacher. She retired from Georgia schools after twenty plus years of service.

  Survivors include sons, Otis Cook of Louisville, Kentucky, Ralph Cannon of Molena, Bob Cannon of Jesup, and Victor Cannon of Coral Gables, Florida; daughter, Faye Moody of Riverdale; and sister: Naomi Sanderson of Birmingham, Alabama; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Gerald S. Fowler, Sr.

  Mr. Gerald S. Fowler, Sr., age 76, of Hampton, Georgia died November 24, 2008. He was born in DeKalb County to the late Rubin Samuel and Era Exa Fields Fowler. Gerald served his country in the United States Army and was retired after 27 years with Prudential. He attended The Village Church and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and his grandchildren’s sports activities. He was preceded in death by sisters, Irene Jones, Louise Bishop and by brothers, Harold and Marvin Fowler.   

  Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Jean Fowler of Hampton; children, Cathy (Carlton) Chatman of Hampton, Stewart Fowler of Charleston, South Carolina; grandchildren, Craig Chatman, Cindy DuBose, Corey Chatman, Tina Shaffer, Travis Fowler; great grandchildren, Cierra, Chelie, Dylan, Malachi Chatman, Emma and Bowden DuBose, Christina Palowski, and Brittany Shaffer; numerous nieces and nephews.

Julie Karen Rogers

  Ms. Julie Karen Rogers, age 54, of McDonough, Georgia died November 26, 2008.  She was born in Lakeland, Florida.  Ms. Rogers was a member of McDonough Christian Church. She was a graduate of Lakeland Business College and Atlanta Christian College and was a former Rainbow Girl and Eastern Star. She owned Creative Classics Commercial Embroidery and Sewing, participated in Civil War re-enactments, and was an active member of the Stone Mountain Hog Group. She was preceded in death by her mother, Constance Alta Rogers.

  Survivors include her father, William Ellis Rogers of Lakeland, Florida; sister, Sherrill Fulton of Fernandina Beach, Florida; brothers, Glen D.   Mrs. Frances D. Hearn, age 81, of Stockbridge, Georgia died November 27, 2008. She was born in Phil Campbell, Alabama to the late Sidney Thomas and Lela Arie Carden Daniel. She was a member of Bible Baptist Church. Mrs. Hearn was preceded in death by her brother, Seaburn Daniel.

George A. Kelly, Sr., age 91, of McDonough, Georgia died December 1, 2008. He was born in Norcross to the late Armer and Bertie Richardson Kelly. Mr. Kelly was also preceded in death by his wives, Mabel Kelly and Vera Kelly, son, Ralph Kelly and grandson, David Kelly.

  Mrs. Betty Masters Harwood “Nana,” age 81, of Locust Grove, Georgia passed away November 21, 2008. Mrs. Harwood was born in St. Augustine, Florida the daughter of the late Hazel Cubbedge and Joseph Francis Masters. Mrs. Harwood was a devoted homemaker who enjoyed her family, her church, crafts, painting, sewing, cards, volunteer work, fishing and being at the ocean. She was preceded in death by her husband, Forrest Sidney Harwood, in 1989.

  Mrs. Catherine Phillips Harrington, age 81 of Hampton died November 23, 2008. She was born in Carroll County, daughter of the late Wilburn and Ola Kate Turner Phillips. Mrs. Harrington was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Carrollton and was retired after 25 years with Owens-Illinois in Hapeville. She was a loving mother and grandmother and was the bond that kept her family together. She was described as being very giving and enjoyed gardening. Mrs. Harrington was preceded in death by a brother, W.T. Phillips and her husband, John Lewis Harrington.

  Survivors include her children, Bobby W.  Luis Antonio Torres

  Mr. Luis Antonio Torres, age 86, of Union City, Georgia passed away November 11, 2008. Mr. Torres was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico, the son of the late Aeropagita Zambrana and Juan Torres. Mr. Torres served his country in the US Army during WWII earning the American Theater Service Medal, WWII Victory Metal, Good Conduct Medal, and four overseas Service Bars. He worked as a comptroller for a nonprofit organization; he served as a president for two terms for the Pan American Lions Club in New York. He is survived by his wife, Estella Torres of Union City; children, Hecter Torres of Puerto Rico and Marlene Torres of Hampton; and three grandchildren.

Perry DuPre, Jr

Perry DuPre, Jr, age 73, of Locust Grove, Georgia died November 15, 2008. He was born in Morganton, North Carolina to the late Perry and Aura Mae Summerour DuPre, Sr. Mr. DuPre was a 1953 graduate from the Henry Grady High School. He continued those high school relationships over the years and always assisted in planning the class reunions. Perry served his country and retired from the United States Navy and later retired from the Department of Transportation. Mr. DuPre was a member of the County Line Baptist Church in Jenkinsburg. Most important to him was his family. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

  Mr. DuPre is survived by his wife of 52 years, Lounette DuPre, his children, Perry DuPre, III of Locust Grove and Susan (David) Frank of McDonough; granddaughters, Caitlyn M. Herring of Eatonton, Rebecca L. Frank and Allison P. Frank of McDonough; and sister, Nancy Hassan of Chamblee.

  Mr. Colvin Crumbley, age 74, of Stockbridge, Georgia died November 4, 2008.  He was born in McDonough to the late Jim Peek and Lillian Mae Elliott Crumbley. He was a member of Salem Baptist Church where he worked in the Children’s Ministry. He served in the United States Army and retired from Gulf/Chevron Corp. in 1986 and again in 1999 from Lanier Worldwide. He collected and refinished antiques and enjoyed traveling, visiting six different continents. He was a man of compassion, always wanting to help someone else. Most of all he was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Floyd Edward Lyons, Jr

  Mr. Floyd Edward Lyons, Jr., age 81, of McDonough, Georgia  died November 4, 2008. Mr. Lyons was born in Fulton County, the son of the late Ida Louise Anderson and Floyd Edward Lyons, Sr. Mr. Lyons served his country in the US Navy from 1945 to 1947 as an aviation machinist’s mate. He was a member of Salem Baptist Church and the Salem choir where he enjoyed singing. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed his family, golf, traveling, singing, and all sports. He was preceded in death by a sister, Jackie Hasty.

She graduated from Fulton High School in Atlanta in 1957 and retired from Wachovia Bank. She married the late Farrell S. Thomas on June 29, 1957, who died on September 10, 1991.

  Mr. Billy R. Kent, age 78, of Jackson, Georgia died October 28, 2008. Billy was born in Atlanta to the late Barney Jefferson and Ella Laura McCoy Kent. He served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He retired after serving 28 years with the City of Atlanta Fire Department; was a member of Sharon Baptist Church and the Jonesboro Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed fishing, collecting lighthouses, and trains.

Martha Jean Barrett McMillan

  Mrs. Martha Jean Barrett McMillan, age 76, of McDonough, Georgia died November 1, 2008. Mrs. McMillan was born in Forsyth, the daughter of the late Carrie Beatrice McGinnis and Jackson DeWitt Barrett. Mrs. McMillan was a devoted homemaker who enjoyed her family, caring for her grandchildren, her grandchildren’s sporting events, country music, celebrity gossip, and eating out. She was known for her outgoing personality and never meeting a stranger she could not talk with. Her husband, Bethel McMillan Jr. and a brother, Jack Lanier Barrett preceded her in death.

  Mrs. Hanneloure “Hanni” Boehss LaQuay, age 57, of Hampton, Georgia November 2, 2008.  Mrs. LaQuay was born in Schwerin, Germany. Hanni enjoyed reading, children, and her cats. She was preceded in death by her father, Darwin LaQuay and a sister, Claudia LaQuay.

  Mrs. Beverly Jean Gray died October 14, 2008. She was born on March 1, 1940 in Muncie, Indiana. to the late Frank and Gladys Sullivan. She is survived by her husband, Elton DeWayne Gray of Stockbridge; sons, James and Cindy Gray of Locust Grove, Gary L. Gray of Parker City, Indiana, Thomas D. Gray of Stockbridge; daughter, Mrs. Marta (Simon) Martin of Stockbridge; two sisters, Pat Joy of Connersville, Indiana and Barbara Sullivan of Parker City, Indiana; seven grandchildren.

  Mrs. Dollie Ann Taylor Prendki, age 81, of Locust Grove, Georgia died October 21, 2008.  Mrs. Prendki was born in Bluefield, Virginia, the daughter of the late Julia Woodyard and Daniel Hohe Taylor. She attended Lighthouse Community Church in Stockbridge. Mrs. Prendki was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed her family, bowling and dancing. She was active and enjoyed the Henry County Senior Sixties until her declining health. Mrs. Prendki was preceded in death by sons, David and Ricky Thompson and several siblings.

  Mrs. Dolores Loretta Fette, age 67, of Covington died October 25, 2008. She was born in West Virginia to the late Homer Edward and Lora Norma Miller Hively. She retired from AT&T, was a member of the City of David Covenant Church and enjoyed bowling and games of chance. She was preceded in death by a brother, Billy Hively.

Jack Leroy Fruitticher

  Mr. Jack Leroy Fruitticher of McDonough, Georgia died October 12, 2008  at the age of 87.  He was born in Valdosta to the late James and Lila Fruitticher. He was a former member of The Rock Baptist Church of Rex and later a member of Salem Baptist Church of McDonough where he served as a deacon and a Sunday school teacher for many years. He was a Navy veteran of WWII, was retired from General Motors Assembly Plant in Doraville, GA, a member of the Masonic Lodge for over 50 years and a member of the Shriners. But, most important, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and a true friend to many. Leroy will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Edna Dodd Fruitticher, and his eight older brothers and sisters, Lila Fruitticher Shuford, Ruth Fruitticher Dunlap, J.C. Fruitticher, Ann Fruitticher Haines, Lawrence Fruitticher, Chris Fruitticher, Beverly Fruitticher and Oliver Fruitticher.

  Mr. Alan Baker, age 72, of McDonough, Georgia died October 14, 2008. He was born in East Point to the late James A. and Arrie Mae Brady Baker, Sr. He served our country with the United States Army. He was an active member of the McDonough Presbyterian Church where he sang in the choir. His greatest devotion was to his family. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.

  Mr. Raleigh G. Moseley, of Stockbridge, Georgia died September 30, 2008.  He was born April 19, 1917 to the late Robert L. (Bob) and Lollie Bryans Moseley.  He was a long time member and former elder of Stockbridge Presbyterian Church and was former chairman and one of the original stockholders of The First State Bank of Stockbridge. He served as District Manager of the Atlanta Division of J.B. Withers Tobacco Company and was President of Mostok, Inc., a real estate development Company in Stockbridge. He was former mayor and councilman of Stockbridge and served on the downtown development authority. He also was an avid golfer and considered his "hole-in-one" made at the Green Valley Golf Course in McDonough as one of his greatest accomplishments. Mr. Moseley was preceded in death by his wife, Cornelia Turner Moseley; daughter, Susan Moseley Reed; brothers, Sam, Robert L. Jr. (Bo), Bill, Lamar, Cecil, and sister, Betty Sauls.   Survivors include his brother, Charles Moseley of Stockbridge; grandson, David Alan Reed of Atlanta; granddaughter, Christie Reed Faires of Augusta; and son-in-law, Charles D. Reed of Sylvania.  Services were held October 3 at the Chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors with Rev. Pem Cooley officiating. Henrietta Foster Starr

 Henrietta Foster Starr, age 87, of Jonesboro, Georgia died October 2, 2008.  She was born March 14, 1921 in McDonough to the late John Tinsley and Virginia Irene Glass Bryans. She was a homemaker and a member of Flippen United Methodist Church. What she loved most was to cook for her family. Mrs. Starr was preceded in death by her husbands, George P. Foster and Milton T. Starr.   Survivors include her children, Kendall (Dianne) Foster of Jonesboro, Ronald (Carol) Foster of Gainesville, Patricia Whitaker of McDonough, Virginia (Leon) Forrer, of McDonough, and George Foster of Dallas; special niece, Vicki Smith; nine grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Ernestine Sargent of LaFayette, Louisiana; brother, Robert Bryans of Greenville, South Carolina; numerous nieces and nephews.  Services were held October 4 at Flippen United Methodist Church with Rev. William (Bilbo) Evans

  Mr. William (Bilbo) Evans, age 81, of McDonough, Georgia, formerly of Hapeville, died October 3, 2008.  He was born in Hapeville to the late Charles T. and Elizabeth C. Evans. He was a member of St. Joseph's Episcopal Church, McDonough. 

  Survivors include his beloved wife of 55 years, Marjie Evans of McDonough; sons, David Evans of Canton; Patrick Evans of McDonough, and Paul Evans of Hollow Rock, Tennessee; daughter, Teresa (Terry) Evans Burns of Stockbridge; 10 grandchildren, and sister, Mary “Tut” Estes of Atlanta.   Rose Hand Coker Patrick

Mrs. Rose Hand Coker Patrick, age 91 of Hampton, Georgia died October 4, 2008.  She was born in Hampton to the late Henry Holcomb and Lora Lee Brown Hand. She retired after 35 years with Southern States and had operated the former Hampton Beauty Salon. Rose was a member of the Hampton First United Methodist Church and had been active in the United Methodist Women. She had been a member of the church since 1931. Rose enjoyed playing Bridge, a club she helped form many years ago in Hampton. She was preceded in death by husbands, Oscar Newton Coker and William David Patrick and by three sisters and one brother.  Survivors include her daughters, Elaine Coker (Charles H.) Daniel of Hampton, Cynthia Rose Coker of Lake Forest, IL, Deborah Coker (Kenneth) McCombs of Snellville; eleven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two step-sons; numerous nieces and nephews.  Funeral services will be conducted Monday, October 6, 2008 at 2:00 PM from the Hampton First United Methodist Church.  Rev. Raymond Lamar Chandler, Sr.

  Mr. Raymond Lamar Chandler, Sr., age 56, of Stockbridge, Georgia died October 5, 2008.  He was born in Atlanta to the late William Francis and Mamie Viola Watts Chandler. He was a veteran in the U.S. Army serving in the Vietnam conflict.

 Survivors include his children, Tiffany Gail Chandler, Raymond Lamar Chandler, Jr. and grandson, Cody Raymond Chandler, all of  McDonough; brothers, Perry Chandler of Conyers and Joe Chandler of McDonough; sisters, Fran Colbert of Eustis, Florida  and Sue Klinger of Macon; his best friend, Bonnie Grant of Stockbridge; and his four-legged companion, Tippy.   Mrs. Elizabeth Kilpatrick, age 96, formerly of McDonough, Georgia died October 5, 2008.  Survivors include a daughter: Jean Presnell and husband Leland of Burnsville, North Carolina; grandson, Tim Presnell and wife Lauren; two great grandsons, Riley and Connor Presnell all of Stockbridge and a sister Gwen Konetzko of Brunswick: several nieces and nephews.

Frank D. Statham

  Mr. Frank D. Statham, age 71, of McDonough, Georgia died Sunday, October 5, 2008. He was born in Manchester to the late Carl Tillman and Rosella Smith Statham. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Lesa Marie Parris.  Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Mary Ann Statham; daughters, Laura (David) Parris of Locust Grove and Kim (Andy) Powell of McDonough; four grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and sister, Betty Steele of Vonore, Tennessee.

  Graveside services will be held October 8 at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens with Dr. Frank Crump-ler officiating.
