Papa’s Angels/A Christmas Story opens Nov. 20
The highly anticipated Henry Players production of “Papa’s Angels/A Christmas Story” will open Thursday evening, Nov. 20, at 7:30 p.m. in the Henry County Performing Arts Center. This is a heartwarming tale that teaches the true meaning of Christmas: Love, and what that can make happen. In 1935, up on Billy Cabin Mountain, tragedy strikes the Jenkins family, and the five spunky children have to come up with a Christmas miracle to save their broken-hearted father before it is too late. This show will leave you warm all over... just like Momma’s hand-made quilt did on a frosty autumn night. It is chock full of music that will have you humming long after you leave the theater. You will laugh and then cry and then laugh again, but you will not forget Papa’s Angels. Show dates are Nov. 20 through Nov. 23. Shows start at 7:30 p.m., except for the last show, which is the Sunday matinee that will start at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are priced at $12, or $10 for seniors and children, and are available on-line, or at the door for one dollar more. Groups of ten or more will receive a dollar per ticket discount. In the spirit of Christmas, please bring a canned good to replenish our county food bank. There will be a dropoff barrel set up in the lobby of the Arts Center. Please check the Henry Players’ website, www.henryplayers.com, for other ticket outlets and more information.

By Larry Stanford Contributing Writer
Bellamy Strickland Automotive, the oldest new car dealership in Henry County, is growing. Located on Industrial Boulevard in McDonough, Bellamy Strickland is already home to Chevrolet, Pontiac, and GMC Trucks, and is now adding Buick to its line of vehicles designed to transport you and your family in comfort, safety and reliability. “We had to qualify for a Buick franchise through our customer satisfaction ratings and our sales volume,” said Kevin Doehring, General Sales Manager for Bellamy Strickland. “We’re excited to add Buick to our inventory because we will appeal to Buick customers with our good service. We will also be the only Buick dealership within 20 miles of McDonough.” Cliff and Otis Bellamy bought the Chevrolet dealership in 1980. William Strickland bought into the dealership in 1991 and acquired the GMC franchise in 1994 and the Pontiac franchise in 1997. Bellamy Strickland was also an Oldsmobile dealership until that line was phased out in 2004. Bellamy Strickland Automotive continues to boost the economy of Henry County, as more than 65 percent of their business comes from repeat customers and referrals. They employ 139 people and in 2007 had a payroll of more than $4 million. Buick tied Lexus, a brand costing thousands more, for the 2007 JD Power Long Term Dependability Study. Buick beat Cadillac, Mercury, Honda, Toyota, BMW, Lincoln and numerous other brands in Long-Term Dependability. Buick’s ranking among the top 5 nameplates in Dependability since 2004 shows that Buick is committed to building quality products for its’ customers. The Enclave, the “finest Luxury Crossover Ever,” debuted in 2008 and has won numerous awards, including Road & Travel’s Crossover of the Year, and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s Top Pick Award. LaCrosse is “Craftsmanship at its Finest.” From artfully sculpted exterior curves to tailored interior fabrics and stitching, LaCrosse was created to occupy its own level of the mid-size landscape.
