This Week's Picture
| |
Henry County has been growing so much lately that some places are becoming unrecognizable. In an effort to preserve some of the history of our community, The Times is displaying photos of Henry County from the past. If you can name the
persons or place shown above, write us at
editor@henrycountytimes.com and tell us about it. In the next edition, we’ll reveal the location of the picture and notes readers send us. Photo courtesy of Henry/Clayton Genealogical Society. Visit the Genealogical Society at 71 Macon Street (in the Brown House) in McDonough Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, 10 a.m.-3 p.m., Saturday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. |

Last Week's Picture
Thanks to Charles
Maddox, Angie Cash, Sharon Dewberry, Mark Pollard, and Renita D.
Williams who all wrote in and correctly identified the photo. Angie
said, “This is the new Soho bar now. Before that it was Irish Bred, and
before that it was Southern Pit Barbeque and boy do I miss that place!”
Sharon Dewberry told us, “...Davis Brother’s cafeteria... was my
favorite restaurant to eat at growing up in McDonough in the 1970’s.”
Renita Williams shared this memory, “The restaurant in the picture is
now the “SoHo” restaurant off of Hwy 155 South McDonough. My grandmother
(Eddie Florence Sims) was one of the chefs at Davis Bros. until they
closed it down. She then retired. I know that she was working there in
the ‘70’s before I was born (1975).
