Book Sale for Haven House
There will be a book sale to benefit Haven House on Thursday,
March 11, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Blessings Thrift Store for
Haven House, 86 Work Camp Rd., McDonough, (Behind Henry Co.
Animal Shelter, off Phillips Drive). Call 770-228-6503. All
books for sale from 10 cents to $2.00, including hardbacks.
Bar-B-Que and Bake Sale
New Hope U.M.C. will sponsor their Annual Bar-B-Que and Bake
Sale on Saturday, March 13 from 12 noon until 6 p.m. The church
is located at 1960 New Hope Road at the junction with LeGuin

Spring Fashion Parade
Henry Medical Center’s Auxiliary invites the community to its
“Spring Fashion Parade” Luncheon & Fashion Show fundraising
event on Saturday, March 13 at 11:30 a.m. at McDonough Christian

Blood Drive
The McDonough Presbyterian Church will sponsor its next American
Red Cross Blood Drive on Monday March 15th at the Church at 427
McGarity Rd., McDonough from 2 until 7PM. Blood supplies are at
a critical level this time of the year and donors are encouraged

Youth Step Show
The Henry County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority,
Inc. will host the fifth annual Youth Step Show on Saturday,
March 13, at 6 p.m. at Dutchtown High School, 149 Mitchell Road,
Hampton.
Arts Night @ Fairview Elementary
March is Fine Arts Month and Fairview Elementary will be
celebrating by hosting a Student Art Show on Monday, March 22
from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The students’ artwork will be on
display and professionally framed for them to see. Parents may
purchase their child’s framed artwork. Proceeds will go towards
the Art Program at Fairview. Beta Club students will help
parents find their children’s art work and the Fairview Chorus
will perform. The PTA will also be selling refreshments for the
event.
Free Diabetes Screening
Henry Medical Center will sponsor a free Diabetes Awareness
Screening on Thursday, March 18 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the
Wal-Mart in McDonough. During the diabetes screening,
participants will receive a blood glucose screening, symptoms
education and prevention information. For more information about

required for this event. Walk-ins are welcome.
Mr. and Miss. Special Henry
Applications are now being accepted for the 8th annual Mr. and
Miss Special Henry County Pageant sponsored by People First of
Henry County. The Pageant is Saturday, July 10 at the Henry
County Performing Arts Center.
Timber Ridge Arts Night
Timber Ridge Elementary is having a Fine Arts Night on March 25
from 6 – 8 p.m.
Henry County Retired Educators
The Henry County Retired Educators Association will host an Area
X Cluster meeting on Tuesday, March 16 at 10:30 a.m. The meeting
will be held at the Jason T. Harper Center, County Extension
Office in McDonough. The guest speaker will be mystery author,
Patricia Sprinkle. Others on the program will be GREA State
President, Dr. John Upchurch and GREA Executive Director, Dr.
Bill Sloan. Units from Butts, Carroll/Heard, Clayton, Coweta,
Fayette, and Griffin/Spalding will join Henry for this yearly

Kids Cancer Club
The Kids Cancer Club will host its first community yard sale at
Unity Grove Elementary School on March 20 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
This very special club was created by student, Skylar Hudgens-Wallace.
She is a fifth grader at Unity Grove. She and several other
students have worked very hard to raise money for the St. Jude’s
Children’s Research Hospital. In addition to the yard sale, the
Kids Cancer Club has participated in our Fall Festival and
operated a school store. The club needs donations for the yard
sale.
Premier South Toastmasters
