Annette Obanion correctly identified the Globe Hotel in McDonough, which now houses Scarlett’s Retreat Day Spa. Joe Turner identified the photo and added that he believes the Globe Hotel was moved from its original location on the corner. Eros Riffey wrote, “This is the Globe Hotel in McDonough, also known as the Dunn House. It was built in 1827 and expanded in late 1800’s. In the 1930’s the building was moved a short distance from facing the courthouse Square to its present location on Jonesboro Street and it is now the home of Scarlett’s Retreat Day Spa.” McDonough Mayor Billy Copeland identified the photo and added that the hotel was built in 1827 and is the oldest structure in McDonough. He said, “During this era, there were about 6 hotels in McDonough. They were a stop for horse-drawn wagons going from Atlanta to Macon, then back. The hitching post out front was a prominent spot along that route.” Mike Moon also correctly ID’d the picture.
