Stockbridge approves sidewalk projects, among other business

Four lengthy sidewalk projects are getting underway with design contracts being approved by the Stockbridge City Council at its February 28 meeting.

Falcon Design will be paid a total of $325,000 for this work. That money will come from the city’s T-SPLOST revenue.
More than three miles of ten-foot-wide concrete sidewalks that are ADA-compatible are being planned for the following locations:

Along the south side of Davidson Parkway from the Clayton County line to the intersection with North Henry Boulevard (about 3,500 feet).

Along the west side of Tye Street from North Henry Boulevard to Red Oak Road (about 5,900 feet).

Along the east side of Peach Drive from Jodeco/Campground Road to the entrance of the Winslow at Eagle’s Landing neighborhood (about 2,050 feet).

Along the north side of Old Atlanta Road from the Mays Crossing Shopping Center to Flippen Road (about 6,100 feet).

In other business, the council approved a $173,700 contract for three years of the OpenGov (Cloud Solutions Carahsoft) budgeting & planning platform, as well as a $200,000 agreement with GCL Facilities Management to provide the city with preventive and corrective maintenance services for the beautification of the city’s gateways. A $100,000 contract with Security Solutions was renewed for facility equipment systems and services.

The council approved the $116,853.60 purchase of seven Fleet 3 in-car camera systems with integrated license plate readers. Officials said these items were already part of the 2023 Capital Budget.

Also approved was an amendment to the city code raising the fee for interment in the city cemetery from $100 to $200 and assessing a $1,000 penalty for unauthorized interment.
