Daniel to serve life in prison for murder

A Stockbridge man was convicted of killing his older brother and will spend the rest of his life in prison.

Deangelo Daniel, 26, was found guilty June 9 by a Henry County jury of malice murder, felony murder and aggravated assault. Superior Court Judge Pandora Palmer sentenced him to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

The jury determined that Daniel killed his brother, 27-year-old Amouce Daniel, in August 2020 inside the apartment they shared on Nova Circle in Stockbridge.

According to the Henry County District Attorney’s office, the evidence showed that the defendant stabbed his brother three times with a knife after an argument, then partially severed the victim’s arm before throwing his body into the bathtub.

The defendant solicited a friend to help him dismember and dispose of the victim’s body, but the friend contacted police instead. The police found the victim’s body, which had started to decompose, three days after his death – still in the bathtub.

The case was prosecuted by Deputy Chief Assistant District Attorney Sybil Price and Assistant District Attorney Glenith Williams.
