William Beverly Turpin

William “Bill” Beverly Turpin was born on January 20, 1946 to Harold and Mildred Turpin of Tucker, Ga. He married Susan Goss on June 2, 1968 at Tucker United Methodist Church, Tucker, Ga. Bill fell in love with music at a young age. This led him to a life of playing in many bands and owning Real 2 Reel Recording Studios in Jonesboro, Ga. His other hobbies included history, trout fishing, wood-working, working on cars, sitting on the beach, and traveling. Above everything else, Bill placed his family first. Bill is preceded in death by his parents and his granddaughter Kensley Grace Kirby.

Bill is survived by his wife Susan and his five children, Will (Donna) Turpin: Tristan, Jude, and Luke; John (Stephanie) Turpin: Marley; Michie (Angie) Turpin: Caroline and Chandler; Delaney (Kenny) Kirby: Avonlea, Olivia, and Flynn; and Harold Turpin.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 16 at 3 p.m. at Stockbridge First United Methodist Church in Stockbridge. This will be a time of remembrance and celebration of the life of Bill Turpin. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Kensley Grace Foundation.

Tammie Rene Visocchi

Tammie Rene Visocchi, age 57, of McDonough, Ga., passed away November 5, 2018.

Funeral services were held on Friday, November 9, 2018 in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home with Pastor Brett Parker officiating. Interment followed at Eastlawn Memorial Park in McDonough. Mary Steele Johnson

Mrs. Mary Steele Johnson age 99 of Hampton, Ga., passed away Sunday, November 25, 2018. Mrs. Johnson was born in Griffin on October 28, 1919. She was a retired clerk with the City of Hampton, a member of Berea Christian Church for over 77 years. She was very active in many things, one being on a bowling league for over 37 years with nine championships. She is preceded in death by her parents, Carl Cleophus Steele and Susie Eula Kennedy Steele, her husband, John Elmer Johnson, daughter, Sherlyn Johnson; sister, Bertha Wesley; brothers, Edison Steele and David Steele.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by son and daughter-in-law, David Elmer and Chris Johnson; daughter and son-in-law, Euleen and H.E. (Bud) Smith, son and daughter-in-law, Russell and Donna Johnson. Her eleven grandchildren and their spouses, Damon and Holley Johnson, John David Johnson, Lisa and Jack Ferrell, Sharon and Donnie Gilbert; Michelle and Tim Patterson, Tami and Glenn Parrish, Mike and Debbie Smith, Duane and Leslie Smith, Donald Smith, Jeremy Johnson, Kaitlyn and Jesse Reese. She is also survived by 22 great grandchildren, 26 great great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Mrs. Mary Steele Johnson was held on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 from 1:30-3 p.m. at Berea Christian Church in Hampton. Following the visitation, a funeral service was held in the sanctuary. Reverend David Fulton and her nephew, Dr. Keith Wesley officiated. Interment followed in Berea Cemetery. Conner-Westbury Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Nina Farr Chafin

Mrs. Nina Farr Chafin, age 92 of McDonough, Ga., passed away December 9, 2018. She was born in Birmingham, Ala., to the late Roy Alton and Lorene Nelson Farr. She received her undergraduate degree from Howard University and Master’s Degree from Georgia State University. Mrs. Chafin retired after over 20 years of teaching, mainly at Lithonia High School. After retiring, she taught reading to adults and volunteered as a Pink Lady at Henry Medical Center. She was a member of Kelley Presbyterian Church, where she taught Sunday school, sang in the choir and enjoyed helping and caring for others to make their lives better. She loved to make quilts and give them as gifts for their recipients to enjoy. She loved travel and music. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Clinton Chafin and a sister, Gloria Munoz.

Survivors include her daughters, Alice (Jarvis) Aldridge of Kelleytown and Margaret Williams of Madison; grandchildren, Clint (Lynda) Aldridge of Smyrna, Jennifer (Cory) Richards of Forsyth and Andrea (Chris) Wilson of Madison; great grandchildren, Maya Wilson, Hannah Horowitz, Connor Richards, Chace Richards and Troy Aldridge; sister, Judy Lane of Huntsville, Ala.; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 13, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Kelley Presbyterian Church. Rev. Millicent Thomson will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may visit the family on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions are asked to be made to Kelley Presbyterian Church in memory of Mrs. Chafin. Funeral services were held on Saturday, December 15, 2018 from noon-1 p.m. at Horis A. Ward Funeral Home Fairview Chapel. Burial were held in Fairview Memorial Gardens in Stockbridge.
