Henry Schools sport camps now taking registrations

Young people from kindergarten to high school have numerous opportunities to improve their sports skills through camps at the county’s public high schools.

A total of 20 different camps are on a list released last week by Dr. Curt Miller, the Henry County School System’s coordinator of athletics, health and physical education. It was compiled by coordinating with various coaches who are leading the camps.

Highlighted sports during the summer camps include baseball, basketball, cheerleading, football, soccer, softball, tennis, volleyball and wrestling. Host schools on the list are Eagle’s Landing, Locust Grove, Luella, McDonough, Ola, Union Grove and Woodland.

While exact numbers were not available, Miller acknowledged that several hundred students participated last summer.

“I think we had about as many camps last year as this year,” he said. “Several of the camps are heavily populated.”

Parents interested in signing up their kids for a sports camp are encouraged to make direct contact with the coach listed, who can provide any information that is needed. All parents are required to sign a standardized waiver for insurance purposes.
