Edna Norton Gasses wrote, “the photo this week is of my family’s business, Gasses Clothing Store. My parents Vee and Mike Gasses and aunt’s Betty and Annie Gasses were the owners. They opened the business in 1932 and retired in 1982 with 50 years of providing dry goods to our county! My brother Tony and I would help in the store. Great memories.” Mark Parker wrote, “I believe this photos was taken in the mid 1950’s and shows the Gasses Clothing Store on the McDonough Square. Ms. Morene’s currently occupies the space. Notice the signage stenciled on the brick above the entrance.” Gary Gasses wrote, “the building pictured on the McDonough Square belonged to my three sweet Aunts, Betty Gasses, Annie Gasses and Vee Gasses. They owned and operated this store for decades. When you went into that store you were not just a customer, you were family. You were treated with love, kindness and respect. After you left that store you wanted to come back and feel the sweet loving atmosphere. They were the best. Regretfully they have all passed away.”
