The next Music in McDonough festival will seek to entertain area residents in a new way.

Picnic in McDonough is scheduled for June 8 at 6 p.m., on the Square.

Patrons will have an opportunity to set eight-foot rectangular tables in festive fashion, and enjoy dining al fresco with food prepared at home or by local restaurants.

Twinkling lights will adorn the Square, and five musical acts will provide entertainment for the occasion. Attendees are encouraged to bring their best china, silverware, flowers and festive decor for the inaugural event.

Participants should register early to secure a table. Only 20 tables will be available, for $20 each, on a “first come, first reserved” basis.

The festivities will include a table-decorating component. During registration, attendees will be assigned numbers to display on their tables.

Tables will not be reserved until payment is received. Judges will give first, second and third place awards to the best-dressed tables. Guests are encouraged to display a musical theme and arts in keeping with the festive mood of the occasion.

Local restaurants which will provide carry-out meals: Grits Family Restaurant, PJ’s Cafe, Macon Street Tacos, Holy Smoke BBQ, Queen Bee Coffee, Pasta Max Cafe, Kirby G’s Diner & Pub, and Southern Roots Tavern & Eatery.   To register, call Cinderella Bennett at 404-291-3522, or e-mail cbennett@mcdonoughga.org. Payment will be accepted in person by cash or check, or via PayPal.
