Connecting Henry hosted a Community Collaborative Meeting on June 11 at Heritage Park in McDonough.

Georgia Department of Community Affairs Deputy Commissioner Rusty Haygood gave a brief presentation and shared three fundamental elements on why citizens should participate in the upcoming 2020 Census and how important it is to the county and state. He shared examples of what to look for on the form and ways the Census can be conducted, whether it be by telephone, in person or online.

Following Haygood’s presentation, keynote speaker of the event, Laura Turner, gave tips to guests and allowed them to polish their networking skill with a group activity.

Attendees also donated nearly 100 boxes of cereal for Connecting Henry and Southern Grace Hospice’s Cereal Box Challenge. The goal of the Cereal Box Challenge is to collect cereal for local nonprofits that benefit needy children in the community.

The next Collaborative Meeting will be held on September 24 beginning at 9 a.m. at Heritage Park, which is located at 99 Lake Dow Road in McDonough.   For more information on the 2020 Census, visit www.census.gov. For more information on Connecting Henry, visit connectinghenry.org.
