Douglas A. Thames, Sr.

  Douglas A. Thames, Sr., 83, of Memphis, Mo., formally from McDonough, Ga., passed away Sunday, October 27, 2019. Douglas retired from Bell South phone company and the Georgia National Guard in Jackson, Ga. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Wesley, parents, PA and Helen Thames.

  He is survived by sons Douglas Jr., (Sherry) and Morgan (Christi), grandchildren, Tiffany, Nikki, Justin (Katlin), Kaci, and Amber, along with two great-grandchildren, special friend, Maggie Thames, sisters, Brenda (Lamar) Worthy, and sister, Claudia Lagasse, and several nieces and nephews.

  A Georgia memorial service will be announced later.

Jennifer Lynn Gaganis

  Jennifer Lynn Gaganis, age 57, of Hampton, Ga., passed away on Saturday, November 2, 2019

  A memorial service will be held in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home at 2 p.m. on Sunday, November 24, 2019. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.    Joseph C. Cates, Jr.

  Joseph C. Cates, Jr., age 63 of Stockbridge, Ga., passed away on Saturday, November 2, 2019.

William Ted Anglyn

  William Ted Anglyn, age 59, passed away surrounded by his loved ones at his home in Naples, Fla., on Friday, November 1 2019, after an 11 month battle with Glioblastoma. Ted graduated in the top 10% of his class from Auburn University in 1982 with a Bachelors of Science in Finance. He began his appraisal career shortly thereafter and in his 37 years in the industry he has written six books on the subject and published numerous articles. He is the recipient of the 2017 Lifetime Achievement Award and the eponymous annual Leadership and Development Advisory Council’s (LDAC) Ted Anglyn Award. Ted is an honorary member at multiple Appraisal Institute Chapters nationwide and was instrumental in growing membership and education programs within the Appraisal Institute. Ted leaves behind a prodigious legacy throughout the appraisal world.

  Ted’s passion for football, baseball and travel are only surpassed by his passion for God and family. He visited all 50 states before the age of 30 and all 7 continents before the age of 40. Ted has been to all 30 Major League Baseball Stadiums and has been to 28 out of the 32 National Football League Stadiums. Ted has been a faithful Falcons fan since 1966 and a season ticket holder since 2002. RISE UP! Ted is unwavering in his support for Hampton Elementary School where he attended as a child, Grady Hospital where he has supported the nursing staff for over 15 years and most recently the nursing staff at Jackson Memorial. In Ted’s honor, these long held traditions will continue.

  Ted is survived by his wife, Terresa Ferruccio-Anglyn, his mother, Lillian Anglyn, his children Meredith and Ben Anglyn, his step children, Alexis Ferruccio and Jonathan Austin, his brothers, Derrell and Alan Anglyn and their families. He was preceded in death by his father, Derrell Anglyn.

  Ted’s family will be holding two memorial services. The first service will be held in Naples, Fla., on Friday, November 8, 2019 at The Arlington at 2 p.m. The second service will be held in McDonough, Ga., on Friday, November 15 at Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors with visitation from 1-2 p.m. The memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the William “Ted” Anglyn Memorial Fund-raiser with the Glioblastoma Foundation. https://glioblastomafoundation-remember-honor.everydayhero.com/us/william-ted-anglyn-memorial-fundraiser. Mary Carter Newsom Mann

  Mrs. Mary Carter Newsom Mann, age 102, of McDonough, Ga., wife of the late Lewis Mann, passed away on Monday, November 4, 2019, at Westbury Health and Rehabilitation Center. Mrs. Mann was born in Madison on July 19, 1917, daughter of the late James Marion Newsom, Sr. and Mary Carter Atkinson Newsom. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church of McDonough where she was active in the WMU and sang in the Sr. Adult choir, and was a former member of Dewy Rose Baptist Church, where she was active in the WMU and taught the GAs. Mrs. Mann was a very crafty person who enjoyed knitting, quilting, and painting. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Andrea Brown Mann; and siblings: Mildred Hadden, J. Marion Newsom, Jr., and William H. Newsom.

  Survivors include her children: Donald L. Mann of Stockbridge and Anita and Carl James of McDonough; sister, Dorothy Randolph of Locust Grove; grandchildren: Tamara Goforth, Errol Mann, Jeremy Mann, Carla Weldon, and David James; thirteen great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

  Graveside services celebrating her life were held on Friday, November 8 at 2 p.m. in the Dewy Rose Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Gary Purvis and the Rev. Tom Bergman officiating.
