The Miracle Mission Hope House, Inc. recently hosted their annual Turkey Gala, and served the community this Thanksgiving season by providing turkey baskets, a meal, and holiday activities for local families. This is the 6th year that they have provided this service to the community.

“We gave out 50 turkey baskets with other food items and gave enough for them to have a Thanksgiving meal,” said Marlene Lemons, CEO of Miracle Mission Hope House, Inc. “We served meals to about 150 clients.”

Vivian Thomas, Henry County Commissioner, and representatives from Home Depot, along with the Eta Sigma Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma walked around and gave baskets to senior citizens of Henry County.

“A lot of the seniors cannot get out for Thanksgiving. It means a whole lot to them that we would take the time and come and serve them,” said Lemons. “We fed them and gave out Thanksgiving meals that they could prepare on their own. They were very grateful.”

Sponsors attended the gala and helped to put baskets together to send home with families and to serve food to those in attendance.

Sponsors of the event included the UPS Foundation Inc., Quick Trip, Home Depot Distribution Center, Publix Charity, Care Now Community Development Center, Midwest Food Bank and Atlanta Community Food Bank.

Henry County Juvenile Court representative Eric Levels came out to help with the festivities as well.

“We are here not just to supply Thanksgiving dinner, but to help the community by providing food, clothing, overcoats, toiletries and training for youth,” said Lemons. “We are trying to make [Miracle Mission Hope House] a one stop place for the community.”

On December 21, The Miracle Mission Hope House, Inc. will be hosting a Christmas Gala and giving out Toys for Tots for children ages infant to 12 who are without during the holiday season. For more information, call 770-412-2950.
