In an effort to preserve some of the history of our community, The Times is displaying photos of Henry County from the past. If you can tell us anything about the photo shown above, use this form. In the next edition, we’ll reveal the details of the picture and notes readers send us.

Dottie Green wrote, “this is Marion Hall Simpson. A member of the McDonough First UMC. A wonderful Christian, who shared his faith with my children and our family. Always had a smile and uplifting words. We were blessed to know him and his family.”

Janis Price wrote, “this is a picture of Marion Hall Simpson who had a grocery stand at Keys Ferry and Cleveland Street. He was  a long time member of the McDonough Methodist Church.”

Peggy Brannen wrote, “The young man in the top photo is none other than Marion Hall Simpson. I met him at McDonough First UMC where I was the church office manager at the time. He and his wife were owners of the fruit/vegetable stand in downtown McDonough. He never met a stranger and was very active in his church.”

Chuck Kimbell wrote, “the May 6 issue of Henry County As It Was shows Mr. Marion Hall Simpson, a Henry County Icon whose no longer with us! He and his wife operated Simpson’s produce stand in McDonough.”

Thanks also to Carla Deloach and David Bledsoe for identifying the photo.
