A portion of McDonough’s public facilities are once again open to the public.

  According to a statement released May 28, City Hall and several other buildings reopened June 1. Those include the police headquarters, fire stations, public works building and Main Street Welcome Center. All will be open 9 a.m.-4 p.m. weekdays under a modified schedule.

  Prior to entering any city building, visitors will be required to wear a mask and have their temperature taken. Masks will be provided for those who do not have one.

  Water customers still have the option to make payments online, by phone, at the drive-through facility or by utilizing the drop box. The convenience fee for paying online or over the automated phone line will no longer be credited back to accounts.

  Officials said that in accordance with CDC recommendations, all city and Main Street events remain cancelled until further notice. The City Council, which did not meet in May, will convene Monday, June 15. Members of the public who would like to attend in person will be expected to comply with social distancing protocol, as well as other requirements implemented by the city.

  Facilities that remain closed until further notice include the C.O. Polk Museum and all city restrooms and parks, such as Alexander Park East, Alexander Park West, Avalon Park, HOPE Park, Richard Craig Park, and Rufus Stewart Park.

  City leaders encourage everyone to adhere to CDC mitigation guidelines to reduce the risk of exposure to COVID-19. The latest information regarding city facilities will be posted online at mcdonoughga.org.
