Dear Editor,

I cannot applaud loudly enough the workers of Facebook who walked out opposing the printing of the president’s tweets containing falsehoods. He has been able to get away with this far too long. He is now in a situation far beyond his ability of handling, now threatening the use of military force against our young people who are protesting only for fairness and equality which they have been denied for too long. People are stressed out, hungry, worried and no one can see a way out. Certainly we are seeing looters, but I can only believe these are no more than 5% of the protesters!

Our president has caused this protest, just as he has caused the loss of thousands of lives to COVID-19 by waiting at least two months after knowing about this disease, and simply ignoring being prepared. Dr. Fauci has been available for advice at least throughout the month of January to the present, but his expertise has been ignored. Thousands of unnecessary lives were lost to COVID-19. Now we have an almost uncontrollable situation which the president swears to handle with force, probably causing hundreds, or event thousands more lives, due to his egotistical ignorance. If possible, he should have refused acceptance  of the presidency in 2016, knowing that Hillary Clinton had truly beaten him by thousands of votes of the citizens of the United States. We need a leader, not a dictator.

Hannah Evans,

McDonough
