ANSWERS

  1. Clothes lines that went from your house out to a reel and back needed these spacers in order to keep both lines from rubbing together.

  2. Hedda Get Betta. A doll whose expressions changed by twisting the knob on her hat which rotated the dolls head revealing three faces

  3. Aspergum – Aspirin coated chewing gum for those who did not want to take pills. Orange flavored.

  4. Miss Spoolie – These flexible hair curlers worked by wrapping several strands of hair around the stem and then folding the top over to hold the hair in place. Comfortable enough to wear while sleeping and giving you curls when you awoke.

  5. Window Hooks – In many old schools and and municipal buildings there were very tall windows. These hooks were on about six foot poles which would enable you to open the top of the double hung windows for fresh air.

  6. The Great Garloo – “Remote Control” Monster that you could move around the room, bend over and pick up small objects, then return them to you and place them at your feet.  Unfortunately at the time there wasn’t wireless technology so if the Great Garloo had to travel more than three feet, you had to move as well.

  7. Easy-Bake Oven – This Toy oven could actually bake small cakes from a mix and the heat came from a light bulb.

  8. Smith Brothers Cough Drops – helped to ease sore throats or coughs. Available in Black Licorice or Cherry.

  9. Nope, not Pepperoni. These are Fizzies. Drop a tablet in a glass of water and you get a carbonated soda type drink. Great assorted flavors and a burp!
