Adopt-A-Teacher program going on now

Even though our schools are turned upside down and the world seems very different due to COVID-19, the needs of our children are still pressing. The resources they require to reach their highest levels of success are still needed.

The 2020-2021 school year has begun with teachers and children  working from a virtual classroom setting. Given the complexity of issues that COVID-19 has created, some teachers will be in the school, while other teachers could be remaining in a virtual setting for some time to come.

The status of when and how schools may begin to let students back into the buildings is still being developed. Henry County School students’ needs for schools supplies is greater this year than ever before, as many parents struggle to make ends meet.

The Raise Me Up Foundation’s Adopt-A-Teacher program, which began in 2016, recognizes that now, more than ever, essential school supplies will be in high demand as the children return to school.

Given that COVID-19 safety procedures and protocols will not allow the sharing of materials, every classroom will be strapped for supplies.

Therefore, Adopt-A-Teacher 2020 is pressing forward to help Henry County teachers obtain those supplies and resources for the children within their classrooms.

The Adopt-A-Teacher program is designed to reach out to area teachers to determine common classroom needs, and then link them to community business sponsors and individuals wanting to help.

This year, teachers are submitting their Amazon, Walmart, or Target wish lists to the Raise Me Up Foundation. The Foundation then makes the teachers and their wish lists available on the Raise Me Up Foundation website.

Sponsors can visit the website, select the teacher they want to adopt, view their wish list, and order the supplies to be sent directly to the schools.

The form will close once each teacher has been adopted.

“We are looking forward to bringing our community together once again to show our educators how much we appreciate them, and to encourage our students as they strive to reach academic success,” said Priti Griffin, Founder and Executive Director of the Raise Me Up Foundation.

The Raise Me Up Foundation is a nonprofit organization working to “help the community create a safe and healthy environment in which children can grow.”
