Zoning Advisory board hears request

The Henry County Zoning Advisory Board considered one rezoning request and four other items at its September 10 regular meeting.

One rezoning request was recommended for approval by the board. Tim Jones Properties of Brookhaven asked for a rezoning from R-3 (single-family residence) to RS (residential suburban) for 96 acres located north of Mount Carmel Road and east of Mill Road. The plan for the site is a mix of single-family homes and condominiums. The request will now go before the Board of Commissioners for final approval.

While the commissioners must approve rezonings, the ZAB typically has the final say on variances. Two variance requests were denied at this meeting. The first was a petition for relief from signage regulations on behalf of Gas Express Petroleum’s one-acre site at 3010 Bill Gardner Parkway in Locust Grove, just east of Hwy. 155. The other involved a tract of less than an acre at 55 Country Roads Circle, just of East Atlanta Road north of Stockbridge, and the request by Hill Oxford One LLC of Columbus, Ohio, was for a personal care home.

The other two requests on the September 10 ZAB agenda were both approved. City Switch II-A LLC of Atlanta requested a variance for relief from wireless communications facility standards regarding 6.5 acres north of Bill Gardner Road and west of Lester Mill Road. In a separate agenda item, AT&T of Alpharetta requested a conditional use for the same property to allow a new wireless communications facility.
