Betty Joan Crismon

  Betty Joan Crismon fell into eternal rest with Jesus on Monday, October 26, 2020 at Emory Hospital Midtown in Atlanta, Ga., following a brief illness. Betty was born December 12, 1933 to the late E C Thomas and Buel Thomas of Corning, Arkansas. She was also a 1951 graduate of Corning High School. Betty was preceded in death by her parents and her first husband Bill Stacy, and second husband Pedro Crismon.

  Betty is survived by her children Pamela Crismon, Janet (Gary) Tritch, Mark (Barbara) Stacy, Cheryl (Patrick) Berry. Betty was blessed with 5 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren, Tamela Crismon (Clay) West, children Lydia and Sadie, Amy Tritch (Paul) Stavnes, children Taylor, Cade, Ryann, Elijah, Brett (Leanne) Tritch, children Tyler, and Luke, Brandon (Danielle) Mueller, children Maxwell and Macklin, Jessica Tate (Michael) Spencer, children Landon and Lane. Betty was survived by her brother, Harold (Vivian) Thomas. Betty will be missed by numerous cousins and her many friends and church family at McDonough Church of Christ in McDonough, Ga. Betty was an enthusiastic fan of baseball and a follower of her favorite team the Atlanta Braves. Her greatest love first and foremost was of course the love she had for her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, which she shared with others freely. Memorials may be sent to McDonough Church of Christ.

  A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 21, 2020 at the McDonough Church of Christ.  Interment will be held at 2 p.m.  on Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at Green County Memorial Gardens, Paragould, Arkansas.      John Alvin McGarity

  John Alvin McGarity, age 91, of Hampton, Ga., died Tuesday, November 3, 2020. He was born in Henry County, Ga., to the late Leroy Alvin McGarity and Jettie Belle Greer McGarity. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Annette Patterson McGarity; brother, Eugene Greer McGarity, and sister, Bernice Ruth Fausel.

  Mr. McGarity is survived by his son, Keith; brother, Henry Hamilton (Edith) McGarity; sister Mary Evelyn (Rabun) Tingle, and many nieces, nephews and loved ones.

John Harlow Maloney

  Mr. John Harlow Maloney, age 81, of Hampton, Ga., passed away on Saturday, November 7, 2020. He was born in Nashville, Tenn., to the late Robert Harlow and Margaret Maloney. John was predeceased by his sister, Sue Brame.

  He is survived by his son: Michael Harlow Maloney of Hampton; siblings: Paul Maloney of Hudson, Fla., Barbara Hapney, Vickie and Ray Rodgers, and Rita Coleman all of Tenn.; former spouse: Diane (Maloney) Baggett; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Janet Sue Barber

  Janet Sue Barber, age 82, of Stockbridge, Ga., passed away on Tuesday, November 10, 2020.

Glenda Marie Stroud

  Mrs. Glenda Marie Stroud (Baby Love), age 73, passed away peacefully and was surrounded by her family and friends at her home in McDonough, Ga., on November 12, 2020. Glenda had a kindred spirit soul and was passionate about spirituality and her family.  She devoted her life to helping others so much that she started her life as an EMT, Nurse, Phlebotomist, and finally at the Senior Center of McDonough were she was deservingly recognized as employee of the year for Henry County. Glenda was born in Marietta, N.C. She is preceded in death by her father and mother Jessie Daniel and Jessie Mae Cooke. 

  She is survived by her loving husband and best friend Weyman, her three brothers Roger, Ronald and Jessie, her five precious children Lisa (Scout), William (Brenda), Mark (Melissa), Marty (Tina), and Steven (Sunshine), eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her devoted and life-long companion Boo-Bye.

Charles Edwin Sims

  Charles Edwin Sims, age 89, of McDonough, Ga., died Sunday, November 15, 2020. He was born in McDonough, Ga., to the late James Melvin Sims and Bessie Mae Sims. Charles served his country in the United States Army during the Korean war. He married Jo Ann Wilkerson Sims in 1957 and they were married for 46 years until her death in 2003. He loved playing baseball and softball, farming and watching his grandchildren play sports. Charles retired from Snapper Power Equipment after 34 years and during his retirement he enjoyed working at Harding Plumbing. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Jo Ann Sims; sister, Margie Mason; and brother, James Sims.

  Mr. Sims is survived by his daughter, Lisa (Tommy) Woodall of McDonough Ga., son, Chuck 

(Carla) Sims of McDonough Ga.; brother, Warren (Mary) Sims of McDonough Ga.; sister-in-law, Ellen Sims; grandchildren, Bobby (Amber) Woodall, Libby Woodall, Chad, Will and Colson Sims; great-grandchild, Hudson Cain; and his special caregiver, Sussie Bishop as well as several nieces and nephews.

  Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, November 19, 2020 at Sharon Baptist Church with remains placed in state at 1 p.m. Rev. Gary Lewis and Rev. Jeff Ayers are officiating. Interment will follow at Sharon Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, November 18, 2020 from 4:30 until 7 p.m. at Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors.
